No, I Will Not Shut Up

President Obama made a campaign stop in Afghanistan.  He pledged to work with its people and its military to stabilize their world and put them on the path to prosperity.  Now, in my estimation, he was there in the midst of the heroin capital of the world and once again threw America under the bus.

Ninety percent of the world supply of heroin comes from Afghanistan.  We are there in that country with the greatest military force on earth.  Yet here at home we are spending millions of dollars fighting a losing battle against drug addiction.

In my own experience, working with families devastated by the ravages of heroin addiction, I am angered and frustrated when I see our military standing guard alongside fields of opium poppies.  We certainly have the technology to spray those fields and destroy those crops.  We have the ability to wipe out the distribution chain and save millions of American lives, countless millions in lost productivity and enormous sums in public health care costs by destroying 90% of the worlds heroin.

In addition, the illicit heroin trade produces billions of dollars in revenue which is being used to finance terrorist activities around the world. Why we do nothing about it is disgraceful.

There stood our President, in the middle of an organized crime center for the production of heroin and gave a campaign speech.

Is nobody else paying any attention?
