Government Waging War On Farmers?

The USDA which is supposed to only make sure our food is safe, issued a newsletter encouraging its employees to help the environment by observing “meatless Monday” claiming that the consumption of meat is bad for the environment, a flaky UN idea.

In addition, with all the chicken littles running around in tri-corner hats screaming for the government to stop spending any money on anything at all, this year’s drought not only has the potential to drive food prices sky high and but without crop insurance and the safety net of the farm bill, the drought could cripple American farmers and drive them into bankruptcy.

Everybody is so concerned that if the government defaults then we will look like Greece.  I get it, but let’s look at our history and recall that we became the greatest nation on earth because we recognized that there had to be a partnership between our government and our people, not because we viewed the government as the enemy.  

But the more the people of this country push our government to advocate for “meatless Monday” and fail to appreciate the extent to which agriculture supports our economy, the more likely it is that people will indeed see the government as the enemy and all hell will break loose.

Oh, wait a minute, maybe somebody would LIKE for that to happen.
