Putin to Obama: Crimea a River

The lastest Conservative commentary regarding the Ukraine “crisis” is that if President Obama had been tougher, Vladimir Putin wouldn’t be putting the hurt on the Ukraine.  There is some truth to that assertion.  Barack Obama has never understood why the world operates in the way it does.  This flaw is a fundamental problem American Liberals have in understanding others.  Jimmy Carter made the same mistake when he exclaimed, after he learned that Russia had invading Afghanistan, that the Soviet Premier Brezhnev had “lied” to him.

In short, Obama is ignorant and assumes that because he is not putting America first that foreign powers won’t act in their own best interests.

I’m sure we’ve all been in the situation where someone’s child behaves badly and talks back to their parents who do nothing.  But when you’re around they wouldn’t dream of acting like that.

They know they cannot get away with that.

G.W. Bush gathered the troops, Congress, and much of the world and invaded Afghanistan and Iraq to right wrongs.  Whether that was wise policy or not, it certainly sent a message not to mess with America or to test this nation’s resolve.  He clearly said who was a member of the “Axis of Evil” and said he would make no distinction between a nation harboring terrorists and one sponsoring them.

Guess what happened?  The world was relatively calm for eight years.

Barack Obama spent his first year in office apologizing for Bush, bowing to every leader he met, and giving in to any demands which were made upon him by foreign leaders.

Is it any wonder nobody respects Obama?

Putin is an ex-KGB officer.  To think he couldn’t see what kind of rube our nation’s president is would be stupid.  Putin knows “Europe” isn’t going to do anything (just as they did nothing over Bosnia) and he knows the American president won’t do anything.

So Putin knows he can do whatever he wants and with so much oil and gas running through the Ukraine and into Europe and with energy prices so high he has leverage, too.

Just look at the place where Obama decided to discuss the Russian/Ukraine situation… would you take him seriously?
