Shame On Everyone - Thoughts On The Aurora Colorado Shooting

I didn’t write about the shooting in Colorado yesterday. It was a purposeful move on my part. I didn’t think it was a good fit for the style of writing typically seen on this site, which includes humor and/or satire.

But, when I see the calculated effort by the media to mix reporting and the call for increased gun control, I feel drawn to express my opinion, especially, when the mix of reporting and opinion takes part at the onset of the incident.

Before the crime scene had been processed, and witnesses interviewed, we were informed by ABC News of a potential connection with the suspect, James Holmes, and the Tea Party. As if to infer the Tea Party is made up of right-wing zealots prone to violent attack such as this.

You’ll recall the media attempted the same connection in the aftermath of the recent shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona.

Apparently. we’ve gotten to the point where news organizations must protect their political leanings first and foremost when reporting a story.
