Donald Trump IS the establishment

While Donald J. Trump is inexplicably but widely known as the anti-establishment candidate, his previous alliances scream otherwise. In fact, Trump has acknowledged on several occasions – perhaps anticipating forthcoming criticism – that he “was establishment.”

“You know, the top people, senators, and all these people, a lot of them don’t know me. A lot of them do because, as you know, I’ve been in politics for a long time…I used to be establishment. You know, I’d write big checks all the time, right? I was establishment. When I did this [run for president], I was sort of very anti-establishment.” – Donald Trump on Sean Hannity, February 29

Trump, whose red flags can be seen from a mile away should one bother to scratch the surface, embraces big government which is antithetical to the vision of the founding fathers.

After Super Saturday this past weekend, Trump said:

“The establishment is very unhappy with the way things are going and I can understand that, although I used to be part of the establishment. You know, seven months ago, before I decided to run, I was a part of the establishment. But now I’m not part of the establishment.”

Trump’s rise is an interesting phenomenon, considering that there is only one anti-establishment candidate running, and that is Ted Cruz.

In January, Donald Trump assured Americans that he would work with the establishment and said he has been contacted by the establishment.

“I have received so many phone calls from people that you would call establishment,” he said. “There’s a point at which: Let’s get to be a little establishment. We’ve got to get things done folks, OK? Believe me, don’t worry. We’re going to make such great deals.”

While Trump told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that “getting along” was the “purpose of what the founders created,” the Constitution was designed specifically to ensure that the government would not become too big and powerful.
