Dishonesty from Tom Butler

Over the weekend Tom Butler sent out a mailer to only Limestone County voters which implied that Bill Holtzclaw wanted to close the Athens Limestone Hospital. He twisted the facts from a discussion on Oct. 19 on the Dale Jackson radio show into an effort to save his campaign. If this were a legitimate  campaign issue it would have been discussed on radio, TV and in the newspapers weeks ago, not in the final hours of a heated campaign via a mail out. Butler simply twisted the truth to create fear just like someone who shouts “fire” in a crowded theater.  Bill Holtzclaw never said anything of the sort and I am saddened for the people who believe Butler’s message and are now fearful and confused on the issue.

Bill Holtzclaw will be back on the Dale Jackson show Monday morning at 8:00 and has also asked the Athens Courier to run a story, citing both candidates, on Tuesday.  Butler attempted to drop a bomb on Holtzclaw’s campaign that would blow up on Monday – when they wouldn’t be able to respond. He misfired and it landed early and now we can discuss the truth.  Bill knows the importance of this hospital to everyone across the region; not only for health care but for jobs.

Rest assured, Bill Holtzclaw will work to support the Athens Limestone Hospital and will remain truthful to the people of District 2.
