Maker's Mark Distillery-a photo essay

After Woodford Reserve, Maker’s Mark was my second favorite distillery that we visited namely due to the high quality tour and the distillery grounds themselves.  I thought that reading numerous distillery posts might become a bit boring after a while and so I came up with the idea to do a photo essay post, one which would showcase the beauty of the distillery. But here are some fun facts about it:

-Maker’s Mark has a “college campus” feel to it. The grounds are extensive and it truly resemble a quiet, stunning place where one would see undergraduates studying, hanging out with friends, or just relaxing. 

-The distillery has been around since 1805 but it was purchased by a Mr. Samuels, founder of Maker’s Mark, in the 1950s. He and his family are credited for making it into what it is today.

-The signature dripping wax that is found on each and every Maker’s Mark bottle is trademarked (this is why you won’t see anyone else doing it). And the wife of Mr. Samuels is actually the one to come up with the idea (she was an art teacher and bestowed many of her artistic abilities and creative ideas onto the distillery and company).
-Maker’s Mark is the only bourbon distillery to still rotate all of the inventory. 
-The Samuels’ family has Scottish roots which is why there is no “e” in whisky (I bet you never noticed that before).
