First, let me say that very intelligent and kind people can be afflicted with various degrees of a specific psychosis. They can function normally in most every situation except for the specific debilitating phobia.

Astrophobia is a severe and irrational fear of stars and space. It is one of the specific phobias that are related to a defined object or situation.  Sustained or intense fear can cause a PTSD,  or a form of psychosis in certain predisposed individuals. In the case of astrophobia, a victim with religious fervor may be compelled to retreat to the relative safety of the “firmament” as envisioned in biblical cosmology.  The “dome” then becomes a psychological analog to the security of the mothers womb.

Targeted individuals can be easy candidates for FEP.  Leaders in flat earth cult teachings offer comfortable stories that feed and reinforce the victim’s psychosis, often causing the condition to exacerbate.

It’s not unreasonable to consider the Flat Earth cult is actually a form of psychological “targeting” in order to discover individuals who are susceptible to easy manipulation.

What is Stockholm syndrome?  – Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response when hostages or abuse victims bond with their captors or abusers. This psychological connection develops over the course of the days, weeks, months, or even years of captivity or abuse.

For example, people who are kidnapped or taken hostage often feel threatened by their captor, but they are also highly reliant on them for survival. If the kidnapper or abuser shows them some kindness, they may begin to feel positive feelings toward their captor for this “compassion.”

Psychological manipulation by flat earth cult leaders is often associated with “Stockholm Syndrome”, where the “student” victim develops a bond with their psychological captors.
