How to Manage Police Aggression And 'Mother Frackers'

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Geopolitical analyst, former oil/gas industry insider Ian R. Crane, with his human rights advocate guest Tina Louise, have reported on how to manage increased police aggression toward rights defenders protesting fracking, after a three-month protest at Barton Moss Protection Camp.

The interview (in the video at the end of this article) follows a landmark court ruling in which Barton Moss Road was deemed to be a footpath, thus inappropriate for fracking trucks to use, and police officers subsequently becoming more brutal in their defense of corporate frackers.

Elderly fracking protester brutalized by police

Mr. Crane, who spent Christmas and New Years in England’s frigid conditions at the protection camp, has been airing a series, Fracking Nightmare.

The preaceful Barton Moss protectors have been well organized. For example, they send messages through their Facebook page, such as:

“If you knew they planned to poison your water, what would you do?” - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/10520735/Fracking-chemicals-could-cause-infertility-cancer-and-birth-defects.html. Come and talk to us and find out what you can do x

“People have been shoved and kicked in the back, crushed together struggling to walk or breathe as two lines of police and TAU aggressively pushed us down the footpath,” an account from a day of protesting reads. “Two protectors sat down on the ground in protest (later arrested) and if not for our front line protectors they would have been trampled by the GMP.”

Last weekend, however, as protests continued, even after the court ruled the frackers were not to use the footpath as a highway, police aggression against the protection campers increased.  Police officers insisted that protesters were still liable for arrest for “aggravated trespass” on a public footpath.

A 15-year-old female youth was arrested last weekend for aggravated trespassing. She was holding her grandmother’s arm, as they peacefully defended Barton Moss from fracking semi-trailers and scores of police defending corporate frackers’ interests.

“We will be dying in the streets, like our brothers and sisters in Kiev soon unless we put our feet down NOW and get our own police force and politics under control,” commented Ellis Cain afterwards. “Be disgusted, get angry, don’t take this!”

Crane and Tina Louise, however, say protesters need to be well prepared with tools: skills and know-how to survive corporare-government’s police.

Another person police assaulted last weekend was a mother of five children. Police left her unable to walk, lying on the ground crying in pain for an hour, refusing her medical treatment. She was later hospitalized three days due to her injuries.

Finally, this weekend, the protectors found peace at the site.

“So beautifully peaceful, full of joy and warm humanity yesterday,” Tina Louise commented on the  protectors’ Facebook page. “The absence of police made this possible. Hoping to make it for early tomorrow and hoping today is not brutal and cruel for Protectors xxx.”

Now, armed with first-hand experience, Crane and Tina Louise discuss (in the video directly below) challenges to communities globally at risk of being fracked. They discuss steps communities need to take to mount an effective resistance against what Crane calls “the socio-psychopathic global corporatist Mother-Frackers.”

Wow. Wakeup call for Americans and Europeans: there will be violence on the part of the state against peaceful protesters before this is over. Do we have the guts to face them down? We can’t expect the state to respect our humanity, they have brutalized their forces too much for that.

Agreed. The technology is here now. Thanks for reminding us about that, Paul.

Thank you Ian Crane and all Barton Moss protectors for demonstrating to the world how the 99% can succeed against all odds.

When you have police or other armed groups that will treat people this crude, you begin to learn why so many people want to arm them selves. Just know that when Jesus comes again there will be peace and happiness for all. Animals included. How do I know this? Because it is printed in a book that was written thousands of years ago. That book also tells us what to expect from humans that care only for them selves, and it tells us that they will be gone when He returns.

British police once were so civilized and trusted. Now they carry guns and have American-style sirens on their vehicles. No more “Hello, hello, what’s this then, me lads?” The collar has now become the neck brace. “Police left her unable to walk, lying on the ground crying in pain for an hour, refusing her medical treatment. She was later hospitalized three days due to her injuries.” This is the face of modern Britain?

      • Deborah Dupre

Protecting corporate rather than citizens. Is there such a thing as citizen police people can call if in trouble?

    • rabidjackrussell

This law of the land is broken, these (g)overnment officials aren’t going to negotiate, even if they say they will they’re NOT going to, FFS wake up!

When the rule makers won’t practice what they preach, we have a (g)overnment breaking the law plain and simple!

Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

What does your moral compass tell you?

      • Deborah Dupre

Moral compass? Over 60% of the UK has been put up for license by the government to be fracked, covering most of England and Wales. This has become a matter of fuel vs water and air. Hasn’t this become a matter of self defense? The goof folks protecting Barton Moss seem to think so.

        • rabidjackrussell

Yes Moral Compass.. when the issue at hand shifts to a matter of self defense the good folks of Barton Moss are justified in there civil disobedience (have a moral compass) against the law of the land and LEO’s aggression. When these LEO’s were willing to treat these citizens with cruelty and abuse, they (had no moral compass), and therefore were breaking the very laws they represent.

This statement is so laughable and patently false it’s hard to know where to begin to refute it…

    • willhart

America became the old USSR over the last 20 years…the police were militarized, why do they have to have 2-3 cop cars to write up a traffic ticket? Intimidation. Why did they have to declar martial law in Boston and treat all citizens like terrorists to get one teenage? They sent the military into New Orleans, after failing to help the victims of Katrina…they failed in their central duty of protecting the country on 911…wake up? it is pretty late in the game, my fellow Americnas…you better just prepare for a coup and national martial law order after the Rulers tank the Stock market, and the dollar…Sorry to be the messenger.

    • edoyle7

I’ll keep my guns. You folks should have been shooting..

      • paul brown

Tell you what, you and the cops shoot it out and the rest of us will all be better off.

    • StarRyder

I know and I see it is pretty awful. But from my point of view there are better ways to beat that system. In this case, all those people that are against fracking have a option available to them that won’t get them arrested, and will be effective in beating down any giant corporation.

      DON”T BUY THE PRODUCT

Thats the best way to beat it.

      • paul brown

        Bravo. Now you’re cooking.

These victims have families. These cops live among the people they’re brutalizing, for now. Lets just think about this for a moment.

Here we go again! I’m so sick and tired of the environmental wackos who know nothing about anything demonizing Fracturing Industry. Thanks to this wonderful technology that we’ve used here in the US for over 80 years, our fuel and electricity prices are still manageable. The fascist who are protesting fracturing, don’t care about the environment, they are anti-capitalists who suck gullible idiots into their scheme to stop technological advances to cause prices to rise dramatically to curb usage of fossil fuels. I worked in the oil well Stimulation Industry and have participated in over 300 fracturing jobs in West Texas and New Mexico. Not one time did we contaminate fresh water supplies or cause any earth quakes, its laughable if it weren’t so serious. Oil and gas wells are fracked at depths of 5,000 ft down to 20,000 ft. Fresh water supplies are normally found above 100 feet. It’s virtually impossible to crack rock that distance to contaminate a fresh water aquifer. The US has enough reachable oil and natural gas to last 300 years without ever buying another drop from terrorists. Democrats and Obama won’t allow us to capitalize on these reserves because it would mean economic success without the government, so they do what they can to keep this secret and demonize fracturing. Folks stop being so stupid and gullible to keep believing the lies put out by the Sierra Club and other anti-capitalist determined to damage our economy. We’ve been lied to long enough by these idiots and their partners the Global Warming crowd. America should be rolling in money, with more jobs than we could fill in 100 years, but because of the stupidity of many Americans we’re stuck paying $4.00+ gasoline and 50% increases in electricity.

      • CrowPie

Tell you what….when you can go to your kitchen sink….turn on the tap and light the water with a lighter and watch it burn in a bowl…..then you can come back and join the conversation.

Until then….you are the one who is being gullible and hearing “what falls easiest on your ear.”

      • paul brown

TROLL ALERT! EVERYTHING DR-DOOM SAYS IS A LIE. COME DOWN HARD ON HIM IN THESE COMMENTS. I spend 1 – 2 hours/day refuting these trolls, and have a life to live, so I need help here.

Carbon was useful for the first 200 years, but now it is killing us. Fortunately we can now switch to affordable, safe renewable energy that already is providing more jobs than fossil fuels.
Damage to water supplies, earthquakes, and harm to people near all fossil fuel sites are thoroughly documented. Period. See http://www.ucsusa.org/clean_energy/our-energy-choices/coal-and-other-fossil-fuels/the-hidden-cost-of-fossil.html, http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/20/science/earth/20fossil.html?_r=0, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_impact_of_hydraulic_fracturing_in_the_United_States.

His estimates of remaining supply include deposits that are increasingly difficult, dangerous, and iinefficient to extract, and he ignores increasing demand for energy. Honest experts indicate we should divide by ten. In the meantime, most fracked fossil fuels will be exported (more profits for the industry), we will continue to import fossil fuels (more profits) and prices in this country will continue to rise (you know why).

As for anti-capitalism, if you are the 1 percent and don’t care about the 99 percent, keep on truckin’.

      • paul brown

Oh, by the way, Renewable Energy Provided 99 Percent of New Power Generation in January, http://ecowatch.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=214ab5fbb3f6015d74ffab4ec&id=cd76cb323a&e=795a2f52a8.

      • oldfatguy

What you’re saying about the alleged environmental dangers of fracking is true, in my opinion, but the point of this piece is the violence on the part of the police toward the peaceful protesters. We saw the same thing during the “Occupy” protests. Some areas of the country, the protesters deserved an ass kicking, but a group of college kids in California sitting as ordered by cops then being sprayed in their faces with pepper spray was so overboard, the cops were successfully sued. The problem has become that the cops can literally kill people with no more justification than the “belief” that the officer was threatened, and the police are sued in civil court, but rarely if ever face any criminal charges. The taxpayers pick up the tab by paying the civil damages, and the offending cop(s) keep their jobs and sometimes–like ATF agents at Waco–get promotions.

    • Anonymous

These protests are in the wrong place you cant win against police strength. The protests should be at the HOME addresses of any director of any company involved in these operations, councillor or politician supporting them. The peaceful disruption to their private lives may make them think twice about their support, before things get out of hand for them and their families. All names and addresses of any director of a Ltd company are public knowledge and available from companies house and other credit agencies. There is nowhere for them to hide. This also goes for any company that supports them, which without would not be able to function. Go for the head not the tail, peacefully.

      • paul brown

Wonderful idea which has been used successfully. It’s harder to get at them in gated communities and walled compounds, but one can demonstrate just outside them.

“Police arrest 15-year-old youth holding her grandmother’s arm this weekend for ‘aggravated trespassing’ on a footpath ruled illegal for fracking trucks to use at Barton Moss.”

That’s a bit misleading. It’s a public council maintained footpath/road that the owner is now trying to claim is his personal property in court, so he can sue the protectors for trespass on his land. His name is Peel of Peel Enterprises and he want’s the payoff from Fracking on his land.

Don’t subscribe to Peel Enterprises. Peer pressure is all we have.
