I’m a retired RN who worked in the hell holes such as the Emergency Room, Neurosurgical ICU,Medical ICU,and Trauma ICU . After having a conversation
with a former coworker who is still working at the bedside,she informed me the hospital gives the following options: vaccinations or the use of the N95 mask.Staff are no longer allowed to eat in the break room .I mentioned it may be time to retire,as she will turn 62 this year making her eligible for both the hospital pension( 30 yrs creditable svc in the system or 62 yrs old and at least 6 yrs in system) .I mentioned if she can’t ride it out until,summer next year for 30 yrs of service and full pension to just take the 95% pension and claim her Social Security at 62. I was looking to return to the bedside but was dealing with no one wants to hire someone over 50,doesn’t matter being an experienced RN. With everything going on I realize I retired at the right time.
