The Work Of The Holy Spirit

  “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:” Acts 2:17

  “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.”  Joel 2:28-32

  I know that allot of people do not believe that the Spirit of the Lord is at work today amid the children of God.  However throughout the course of the 20th Century now into the 21st, the Holy Spirit has been working with and through the believers in Christ wherever the Spirit of the Lord is desired and has been made welcome.  And so, amid some regions of this nation, wherever we have Pentecostal, Holiness and some Baptist, as well as Assembly of God churches the reality of the presence of the Holy Spirit of God has been a part of the experience of the people when they come together to worship and hear the word of God preached.  Speaking in tongues which I know some people laugh at are a part of the experience, according to Paul where some of the believers will speak in tongues, some interpret and some prophecy, while others work miracles.

  Now I am not specifically saying that these mentioned denominations are more correct in their doctrine and theology, just that they do recognize that the Spirit of God is alive and a reality.  And so wherever the Spirit of the Lord is welcome then our Lord will show up and make His presence known, which is the bottom line when it comes down to those places and people whom the Lord will visit and abide with.

  For those of you who want insight and understanding, the last days of the week since Adam which are the last 3500 years of the span of time known as the seven thousand year week since Adam, the last days hence are those 3 1/2 days of the week.  And hence Christ came in the middle day, and so all the days since have been the latter days of the week. And now we are living in the last day.  And so as mentioned in Acts 2:17 we are still in those last days, and hence throughout these days there will be people who will prophecy, who will see visions and dream dreams.  And there will continue to be those of whom it is written “And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.”  Hence there is no cut off date to the works of the Holy Spirit of God, for here in these last days “your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.”

  Now if you do not believe any of this, it does not matter, since the promise of Jesus Christ to send the Comforter who is our Teacher, who is also the Holy Spirit is given to those who believe and not to those who will not believe.  Those who will not believe will not receive the Holy Spirit, and hence like I said earlier, the Holy Spirit goes wherever the Holy Spirit is welcome.  And those among whom the Spirit of the Lord is welcome are those who believe.

  Now Jesus told us something else about the Holy Spirit which is a promise to all who will believe just like the Holy Spirit is promised to all who believe, Jesus tells us that out of us will flow rivers of living waters, which is the Spirit of God in us flowing through us and to others, which is why the Holy Spirit works so strongly when we all come together as a congregation in one place.  

  “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” John 7:38-39

  Notice now that we read that “this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive” hence it is to those who believe and has nothing at all to do with them there only but all who believe, even today.  And as Acts 2:17 tells us the Spirit of God would be poured out in the last days, beginning with them in Acts and forwards to these the last of the days of the week since Adam.

  On January 3, 2017 I wrote the following and share it here on the Internet:

  “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” John 7:8  

  Jesus did not promise us believers mere trickles and streams but rivers of living waters! You are a believer aren’t you? Then you can have this right here and now if you will believe! It is a promise of the Word Of God Him self! Yes Jesus the Word made flesh promised this to all who believe. Indeed God intends for you to have your cup filled with His Spirit till it over flows, till it flows into rivers! If you are not experiencing revival in the world it is because you have lost sight of this promise. If you will turn this moment to seek the presence of God, you know what I mean, when you turn to Him believing He is there He always makes His presence known, and honestly ask Him to fill you till you are over flowing He will. He will as often as you come before Him in faith to receive the presence of His Spirit. Seek the presence of Jesus now and be filled! Look up! Believe again!

  He will pour out His Spirit upon us without measure, so do not limit your view of how much He will pour out upon us. Do not imagine a limit on the outpouring of God. He will fill the world with oceans of living waters! Make springs and wells in the wilderness, and make green the deserts.

  For some time now I have been writing about the river of life and the rivers of living waters flowing from us.  This post I made on January 2, 2017 depicts the nature of the truth of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and the continuing promise of the Holy Spirit.

  Everything has a beginning and place of origin.  The word of God is the true origin when it comes to prophecy coming to pass, yet when it does it has its place and time, and the original earthly source from which the waters flow.  In the past it flowed from the prophets who told us about Jesus, and then rivers of living waters flowed from Him.

  These living waters have flowed to and from the believers in Christ since Jesus first began to call people to believe in Him.  Today however we are coming to that place and reality of how that out of us shall flow rivers and not just streams or trickles of living water.  In the past it seemed like but small streams and trickles, but those small streams and trickles from the past still flow to us as the testimony of past believers.  And we have all of their accounts today.  In their day there were many forces that opposed them and their testimony and many died for their faith.  It was even forbidden for them to own a Bible by edict of the Roman Church.

  We are now at that place where these living waters are going to break out of us believers and flow into this present world.  We are the people of prophecy those who are citizens from above, from an heavenly kingdom on assignment down here.  Thanks to Jesus we have come to find the door and hence way back to our Father in heaven.  And this is what we preach, Jesus is the only way to the Father and to eternal life.  He gives us eternal life begin here in this life, once we turn to believe in Him and His promise of everlasting life.  And we preach about His promise to give each of us believers the Comforter and Teacher who is the Holy Spirit.  It is by way of His Holy Spirit and His word that living waters come to flow from us.

  We are like radio receivers with the Holy Spirit, we are tuned into God through faith and through His (written) word.  These two things work together in us to fuel and hence amplify the Holy Spirit so that it pours from us as rivers of living waters to those around us.  Some people are weak in Spirit and in faith and hence needs to come into the congregation of God’s people where the Spirit of God is being poured out without measure, and in this way they come in contact with the outpouring of God.    The word of God provides fuel for the fire that burns in us, you need the word of God in your life to help increase your faith as it is written faith comes by hearing and the purest way to hear is to read the word and hear it in your minds and hearts.  The word of God is as a eternal fountain of pure clean healthy water for your soul.  As it is also written “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”  Ephesians 5:26-27

  More than anything I want you to understand that the Spirit of the Lord comes to dwell with us and in us, just as it is written “Christ in you the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27  And “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”  1 John 4:4

  You see the true reality of Jesus Christ is that the Spirit of the Father and the abides in and dwells in us, as it is also written “know ye not that ye are the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells within you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16

  Now I should point out a truth for those of you who are considering knowing the reality of the Spirit of the Lord in your life, primarily you have to put away the teachings and false prophecies of men and get into the written word of God.  The words of men are not compatible with the Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit acting as our Teacher and Guide is not going to lead you to the teachings of men but the things that are written in the Bible.  You might think you can follow men and their words, and think that they are spiritual but you will find that about all so called prophets have a bad track record of their words not coming to pass today, which means they are false prophets.  And besides, you are not going to miss anything in terms of being aware of things going on in this world, if you become a student of the Bible for the Holy Spirit will help keep you aware of what you need to know.
