Darwin’s Doubts Concerning Evolution¹

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Even Charles Darwin thought his own theory was “grievously hypothetical” and gave emotional content to his doubts when he said, “The eye to this day gives me a cold shudder.” To think the eye had evolved by natural selection, Darwin said, “seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree.” But he thought of the same about something as simple as a peacock’s feather, which, he said, “makes me sick. ” Of course, anyone who has knowledge of the intricacies of the human eye and other living structures immediately realizes the problem Darwin sensed. How could an organ of such an intricate magnificence ever have a originated via random chance? Oller and Omdahl (CH) Page 274

The problem with the human eye vrs the rest of creation is that the blood vessels lie in front of the cornea leading to a visual cortex having to edit out these shapes. The chances of a conscious design flaw of this magnitude is zero, therefore we must conclude the human eye is the result of evolution and the rest of nature an artificial construct.

That is such an old quote mine.

did you read the rest of the paragraph?

When it was first said that the sun stood still and the world turned round, the common sense of mankind declared the doctrine false; but the old saying of Vox populi, vox Dei, as every philosopher knows, cannot be trusted in science. Reason tells me, that if numerous gradations from a simple and imperfect eye to one complex and perfect can be shown to exist, each grade being useful to its possessor, as is certainly the case; if further, the eye ever varies and the variations be inherited, as is likewise certainly the case; and if such variations should be useful to any animal under changing conditions of life, then the difficulty of believing that a perfect and complex eye could be formed by natural selection, though insuperable by our imagination, should not be considered as subversive of the theory. How a nerve comes to be sensitive to light, hardly concerns us more than how life itself originated; but I may remark that, as some of the lowest organisms, in which nerves cannot be detected, are capable of perceiving light, it does not seem impossible that certain sensitive elements in their sarcode should become aggregated and developed into nerves, endowed with this special sensibility.

HO HO HO. Darwin did not have access to another hundred years of learning, evidence and scientific dating (and there are many, not just C14). New evidence is uncovered daily.

Do you religious nuts not realise that romans tossed money and jewellery in to ‘holy’ springs. Do you not understand that illiterate peasants in the middle east(and also in europe and the usa..sadly)still believe in the prophet mohammed and allah???

The funny thing is that modern christians also still believe this garbage, and not only that, they)like all the rest of course, believe their ””god”” lol, is the right one.

All the rest of those crazies have the wrong god of course.

THERE ARE NOT MANY CHRISTIANS WHO WERE BORN IN MECCA ARE THERE ?

Oddly enough they tend to be muslims! Geddit yet ?!?!

THERE ARE NOT MANY CHRISTIANS BORN IN MUMBAI ARE THERE ?

Oddly they tend to be hindi! Geddit yet ?!?!

YOU ARE BORN IN A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY,SO,ODDLY ENOUGH,YOU BELIEVE IN JESUS!!!

      Now do you geddit???

Can any of you religious nut ball sid roth type morons not understand why you believe in your particular brand of religious lunacy????

Of course, YOU’VE been born in the CORRECT country, not one of those stupid incorrect-deity countries!

How dumb those people are. Fancy not believing in the ”right” god. How stupid can they be………………

May I ask please, are you an Atheist @plsnogod? Cheers!

        • plsnogod

Very funny. I believe that is clear.

Tortology is a strange thing however. There is of course no way that i can prove a christian or islamic god does not exist, in the same way neither i nor you can prove nor disprove that a soup dragon god exists, nor gandalf the gray etc.

There is no evidence that any supreme being exists.

However, sadly, the world is full of people who think they ‘know’.

This leads to all sorts of trouble…

          • DTS & Associates

There is no evidence that yesterday exists, yet it does.
A story that will serve well to illustrate:

The Cult of Scientism and Nikola Tesla’s Aether

I prefer, should you wish to debate,to do it directly, not via ‘links’ of other sources.
If you cannot or are not willing, fair enough.

            • DTS & Associates

              @plsnogod:

I would submit even if you are an Atheist, you possess a belief system.

I wrote this story to make the point clear:
              /science-and-technology/2016/11/copernican-heliocentrism-is-faith-based-occult-scientism-2861887.html

              No debate. It’s fairly obvious.

            • plsnogod

To try and put it more clearly,

that ‘dreaded science’ is there to test hypotheses, to prove them or disprove them,
and then move the argument on, and test and judge and tweak and find,or not.

I think your raison detre is very simply that ‘god did it’.

Move along there, nothing to see here…

Challenge me if you have anything?

            • plsnogod

Science is not a belief system.

It is a process of reason and logic.

I still, and finally, realise you are either not, nor able, to engage in debate.

So I draw a close. I’m sad you did not want to engage.

Simply posting links to your previous work is not a conversation.

You sir, have copped out. To post such an article, and to not have the wherewithal to follow up your challenge is intellectual cowardice and charlatism of the first order.
I trust you will not follow up with any more. If you do, then have at least the decency to be courageous enough to talk.

              From “Taking Science on Faith”:
              https://www.edge.org/conversation/paul_davies-taking-science-on-faith
I would add, moreover, that, and I know the Atheists will cry foul when they read this, what we have with respect to Cosmology is based purely on Faith. Imagine that. Atheists having Faith. Kind of ironic isn’t it?

Paul Davies opens his story Taking Science on Faith with following premise:

“Clearly, then, both religion and science are founded on faith — namely, on belief in the existence of something outside the universe, like an unexplained God or an unexplained set of physical laws, maybe even a huge ensemble of unseen universes, too. For that reason, both monotheistic religion and orthodox science fail to provide a complete account of physical existence.”

            • plsnogod

okay so, you still have nothing to say for yourself.
              thats it folks!

            • plsnogod

Ironically, MY GOD, is that realy what you have to say??

              That is your argument???

It will be painful, but do,before you go to bedebyes, scrawl through our conversation.

              Dwell on it.
              Try thinking for yourself.
              Forget mythical deities.

              Be a HUMAN BEING.

              You might find it refreshing.

            • DTS & Associates

              @plsnogod.

This is your idea of debate? Is that the best you’ve got? You are shooting blanks my friend.

              Please troll elsewhere.

I disagree. Science in the case of Cosmogony Astronomy is based upon a foundation of false assumptions, not fact. This results in ‘Occult Scientism’ and the peer review system is ‘gamed’ to such an extent that bringing new insights and theories to light risks one’s professional reputation, worse job loss. So, the false assumptions live on, for centuries as has Copernican Heliocentrism.
