Soros-backed NPR Cancels Cuban 5 Book Author Interview

An affiliate of National Public Radio, NPR, also known as “National Petroleum News” due to its heavy corporate sponsorship and big money backer George Soros’s controlled programming, cancelled an interview with an author about his newly released book on the anti-terrosist workers, the Cuban 5.
The Cuban Five were figting terrorism when the United States Government imprisoned them for their work in 1998.
NPR: “Listener supported radio”?
“National Petroleum News” is frequently used instead of “National Public Radio, “due to the large funding and obvious influence of multinational oil companies,” stated political analyst and activist Don DeBar in a skype interview with Dupré Monday.
Canadian Professor Stephen Kimber, now on an East Coast tour with his new book, What Lies Across the Water: The Real Story of the Cuban Five, revealed Monday that WLRN, an NPR station in Miami, has canceled a scheduled live interview for his work being “too incendiary.”
The Cuban Five FIPs (Falsely Imprisoned Persons) are Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, Ramón Labañino Salazar, Rene González Sehwerert, Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez and Fernando González Llort.
The U.S. government falsely accused each of them of committing espionage conspiracy against the United States plus other related charges.

The five Cubans state in their defense that they were involved in monitoring actions of Miami-based terrorist groups to prevent terrorist attacks on their country of Cuba a planned. They never harmed anyone, yet they are in prison while the anti-Cuba extremists, whom they tried to stop, are walking freely in Miami.
Three of the Cuban Five were born in Cuba, two in the United States; three of them fought in Angola during the war against apartheid. All five were condemned to harsh sentences from 15 years to double life terms for their work opposing known terrorists.
DeBar said that an NPR affiliate “satisfied using NPR news etc. as its public service component is not going to be interested in being controversial any way.”
Professor Kimber’s book is boasted as the most comprehensive and researched publication to date about the arrest of 5 Cuban men in 1998 while they monitored activity of anti Cuba groups operating in Southern Florida.
Since then, only scarce coverage of the case has been offered by U.S. mainstream news, despite it being at the center of current U.S. Cuba relations.
“The book is the result of an exhaustive research effort, including the author’s review of more than 20,000 pages of court records of the longest case in U.S. history, that he presents in a clear and objective narrative,” International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban 5 stated in a written statement Monday.
Stephen Kimber is a professor of journalism at the University of King’s College in Halifax and an award-winning writer, editor and broadcaster. Today on Kimber’s website, he posted:
Since I’m currently on a book tour in the northeastern US, the station arranged for me to go to affiliate WGBH in Boston (on Tuesday) to do the interview live from a studio there. All was set… Then, late last night, we got this email from WLRN:
‘I’m sorry to say that Topical Currents host/exec prod, Joseph Cooper, has told me to cancel the interview with Stephen Kimber. After looking over the book and accompanying material… he feels that the topic is too ‘incendiary’ and fears a negative reaction from certain segments of the community.’
Kimber went on to say “That email tells you everything you need to know – and more – about why it was impossible to find an unbiased jury in Miami to hear the case of the Cuban Five. And why it is even more important today – 15 years later, with four of the five still in American prisons – for Americans to learn the facts about this case.”
George Soros, head of Open Society Institute, is a key financial supporter of NPR.
“In 2010, Open Society Institute gave $1.8M to NPR and has definite influence on news broadcasting at the local level,” DeBar said.
In 2010, a California mayor, Presna Latino, said her town would accomodate the Cuban 5. She advocated freeing them and called for national solidarity with them.
