Beware Of Florida: 10 Reasons To Not Move There
Florida is sinking, but not because of climate change, according to a new report everyone considering moving to Florida needs to read: Florida A State of Embarrassment.
The new report, by the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans (FLARA), categorizes reasons why seniors and young families should not move there.
“The report cites crimes that prey on the elderly, regressive taxes, growing gaps between rich and poor, low spending for public schools and libraries, unmet job ands social welfare needs, high home foreclosure rates, poor emergency medical care, and more,” reports Steven Rosenfeld for AlterNet.
“Behind Florida’s palm trees, tropical birds and beautiful beaches is a state with a multitude of very serious problems that are being ignored by its political leaders,” the report begins. “These problems undermine the potential for prosperity for Florida’s residents and place their future at risk.”

The only reason we don’t have better social services is because WE HAVE NO STATE INCOME TAX!!!
And the high unemployment rate is due to your unrealistic expectations of what a job should be since I see signs everywhere looking for help.
I would rather have no state income tax than more social services any day: Less tax paperwork,more take home money, and LESS HIGH CRIME GHETTOS!

Cost of living here is much more reasonable than California, New York, New Jersey, and all those Welfare/Income tax states.

but thats ok, as we want to move from northwest florida, to some where else, i was born and raised in pensacola, but im alot older now, and i cant take the heat like i used to.
Unfortunately, the report is quite accurate, were small potatoes up here in the panhandle, so we dont really see all that stuff here, like in the bigger cities, but still its not that bad here!
It is a vacation place thou, as we have the world whitest beaches here.

Yep, all depends on which part of FL you live. I’m in Stuart, Martin County (north of West Palm) has the lowest crime in the state, and the most DUI’s per capita of any county in the U.S. lol I relocated from my hometown in Brevard County (Cocoa Beach/Merritt Island), home to NASA, and since NASA folded the entire 72 mile long county took a major hit, and hover in the Top 5 nationwide in foreclosures.
