In January 2015, the Magnetosphere Eddy blog was dedicated to BATSRUS renderings of the dramatic magneton eddy flows that have been forming within Earth’s magnetosphere since 2010.

By late February 2015, prolonged gaps in the BATSRUS RCM image feed started being reported.

These data gaps were initially sporadic, occurring only once per day for approximately 4 hours.

By the beginning of April, the data gaps had become more frequent and sometimes lasting for days at a time. At the end of April, a consistent pattern of data omission emerged.

Since April 30, the 4-hr data gaps have been appearing 5 times per day, providing less than 10 hours of data over a 72 hour period (as of May 3).
