Firstly, there is the more commonly known LHC machine consisting of a 27km ring around which the particles are accelerated through and electromagnetic field generated by massive magnets. Secondly, one of the newest experiments to open up at CERN is called AWAKE. We have covered the AWAKE experiment in the past on the show and it utilises high charged plasma as a form of acceleration. This is a linear experiment as opposed to the giant ring of the LHc. The advantages of using plasma are that its a far more effective means of acceleration with energy increasing over a far shorter distance. Protons from the main ring, travelling at close to the speed of light will come down a ramp and fire into a plasma chamber. As the protons travel through the plasma a wake is created, much like the wake left when a speed boat goes through water. Electrons are then inserted into the “wakes” and this accelerates them to very high energy in a short space of time/distance. To date the AWAKE experiment is in the process of being calibrated before going live with physics expected to be returned by the end of the year. AWAKE in its current form is not a collider ! When the machine is running fully towards the end of the year, the scientists will be monitoring the increased in energy experienced by the electrons but no actual collisions will be happening at the AWAKE facility. However, Anthony Patch has uncovered new information that suggests all of this is about to change. The next upgrade of CERN will see collisions between electrons-Protons taking place. One stream of protons will be used in the AWAKE machine to accelerate bunches of electrons. Coming in the other direction from the main rings will be another stream of protons that they intend to smash into the on coming high energy electrons. This new type of experiment has a brand new name and acronym for us all to get used to… Very High Energy electron-Proton collider… or VHEeP for short! This is not just in our imagination and is taken from physics papers coming out of the Max Plank institute in Germany.

Based on current CERN infrastructure, an electron–proton collider is proposed at a centre-of-mass energy of about 9TeV. A 7TeV LHC bunch is used as the proton driver to create a plasma wakefield which then accelerates electrons to 3TeV, these then colliding with the other 7TeV LHC proton beam. Although of very high energy, the collider has a modest projected integrated luminosity of 10 − 100pb−1. For such a collider, with a centre-of-mass energy 30 times greater than HERA, parton momentum fractions, x, down to about 10−8 are accessible for photon virtualities, Q2, of 1GeV2. The energy dependence of hadronic cross sections at high energies, such as the total photon–proton cross section, which has synergy with cosmic-ray physics, can be measured and QCD and the structureofmatterbetterunderstoodinaregionwheretheeffectsarecompletelyunknown. Searches at high Q2 for physics beyond the Standard Model will be possible, in particular the significantly increased sensitivity to the production of leptoquarks. These and other physics highlights of a very high energy electron–proton collider are outlined….. …..The very high energy electron–proton collider (VHEeP )is based on current LHC infrastructure and a new tunnel to house the plasma accelerator. The facility uses one of the LHC proton beams to generate wakefields and accelerate a trailing electron bunch which then collides with the other proton beam. This is shown in a simple schematic in Fig.1 in which the electron beam is chosen to havea nenergy of 3TeV, achieved in a plasma accelerator of 0.4km ,and the proton beams have an energy of 7TeV. Figure1: Simple schematic of the VHEeP accelerator complex, showing the LHC ring. Protons from the LHC are extracted into the VHEeP plasma accelerator and used to accelerate bunches of electrons. Proton bunches rotating in the other direction in the LHC are extracted into the VHEeP tunnel and collided with electrons. Both proton and electron dumps could be used for fixed-target (beam-dump) experiments……. ….. Physics beyond the Standard Model We now switch to a discussion of prospects for the discovery of new physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). The key features of VHEeP are the very large centre-of-mass energy and the unique combination of electron and proton scattering. We therefore focus on new physics where these features are essential. Two topics were chosen for this initial study: the search for quark substructure, and the search for production of leptoquarks.

NEW PHYSICS, NEW ENERGY LEVELS With this new technique of colliding particles accelerated in the two separate systems comes a massive jump in energy, just as the name VHEeP suggests. Last year Anthony came on the show and broke the news that the energy would exceed 1PeV, thats 1 thousand million million electron volts. Well get ready folks, because the energies produced by the VHEeP will be in the region of 20 PeV! Thats 20 thousand million million electron volts!

A photon–proton collision of W = 6TeV, corresponding to photon and proton energies of, respectively,1.3TeV and 7TeV, is equivalent to a 20PeV photonon a fixedt arget. This extends significantly into the region of ultra high energy cosmic rays. Therefore VHEeP data could be used to constrain cosmic-ray air-shower simulations and so will be of benefit to understanding the nature of cosmic rays at the highest energies

SUMMARY This is the next generation of particle collider, a hybrid of the LHc & the AWAKE plasma accelerator, and will be used to directly target the bonds that hold the fabric of space and time together. With this higher energy, more targetted approach, it is the hope of the scientific community within the corridors of power at CERN, and the elites in their secret societies, to open portals to other dimensions as we have spoke of in previous shows. FORGET CERN, THE NEW NAME WILL BE VHHeP – Very High Energy electon-Proton collider. FORGET 1PeV, THINK IN THE REGION OF 20PeV!
