Washington Defies DEA - Will Conduct Cannabis Research (Video)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

(N.Morgan) At the beginning of this month, the DEA revealed its complete ignorance and enslavement to Big Pharma, by refusing to reclassify marijuana, which will stand at a Schedule 1 drug. This means, according to their classification system marijuana has “no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.”

The decision came as a shock to many who had expected the agency to recognize the 21st century body of scientific evidence on cannabis’ medicinal value, and the real-life stories of people cured with this plant.

It has been widely documented online and by the Free Thought Project  the various examples of children suffering from constant epileptic seizures, who, after receiving CBD treatment (an extract of cannabis), experience a dramatic reduction in seizures and gain a quality of life like never before.

The DEA’s continual denial of the infinite potential of medical cannabis is cruel and borderlines criminal.

In a review of the evidence, U.S. government’s own National Institutes of Health, researchers concluded:

Based on evidence currently available the Schedule I classification is not tenable; it is not accurate that cannabis has no medical value, or that Information on safety is lacking.

As Justin Gardner reported: The good news is, hardly anyone really cares what the DEA thinks. Civil disobedience is happening all over the country as individuals and even state governments recognize the injustice of cannabis prohibition. In a heartening example, one brave Georgia lawmaker admitted that he goes to Colorado to secure medical grade cannabis and brings it back to treat sick children in his own state.

Shortly after the DEA’s decision was released, Washington state – which legalized the recreational and medicinal use of cannabis – announced perhaps the boldest act of defiance yet.

The News Tribune reported:

Washington state is moving ahead with its plans to allow scientific research of marijuana, sidestepping federal rules that critics say have hampered study of the drug for decades.

The state has a new marijuana research license that will allow laboratories to grow marijuana for scientific study. State officials expect to start accepting applications for the new license by January.

The DEA claims they “don’t have enough research” to say cannabis has medicinal value, but their own impossibly strict regulations have smothered research for decades. So Washington has taken the lead and is directly addressing this disingenuous claim by paving the way for more research to be conducted.

Sam Méndez, the executive director of the Cannabis Law & Policy Project at the University of Washington School of Law, states: “It can take up to two years just to get the federal licenses in the first place, because the process is so long and onerous.”

And, when a researcher finally does get a federal license, the only place they can get research-grade cannabis is from the University of Mississippi. Further, when discoveries are made about the medicinal properties of cannabis, they cannot be applied to state-level systems.

Washington’s state licensing program will bypass these ridiculous road blocks, and will make pave the way for private research facilities to conduct research as well as state universities. Research-grade cannabis can be sourced from within the state from a variety of qualified producers.

“The state Liquor and Cannabis Board is now setting up a scientific review panel to scrutinize applications for the new marijuana research license, a first step toward opening the door to applicants”, said board spokesman Brian Smith.

The scientific review panel — made up of officials from Washington State University and the University of Washington — will evaluate the quality of proposed research projects, as well as whether applicants have the expertise and facilities to carry out the work.

After developing rules to govern the application process, the LCB expects to start soliciting applications at the start of 2017, with the first licenses to be issued sometime after that.

On the issue of cannabis, Washington gets full commendations for the rare act of “legislating” freedom by allowing recreational use of cannabis, and for breaking tyrannical barriers to a research on a plant with such medical promise.

It will soon join Israel as one of the world’s leading areas of medical cannabis research, and open the door for a thriving multi-million dollar industry which also serves the benefit of humanity.

The DEA is not ignorant, the DEA is EVIL.

      • The Clucker

        True.

      Hello Angle#3(Of-Ful Prelim),

Charlie here. My, you seems obsessed with marijuana. All the people I know who smoked it or once smoked it are all dead heads. What you now call LOSERS.

The sodomite negro in office was a heavy heavy cannabis smoker. Lazy, pathetic loser. Tends to just party, golf off, prop his feet on desk everywhere and rant at the white man, even though we gave him the “office”.

And look at all the greedy losers trying to be dealers now under the phony “medicinal” label.

      Signed,

Charlie (may I recommend doughnuts instead?)

      • Jacko

@Pink Slime So because of your prejudice we should keep it from people who need it as medicine? The only thing phony here is you. Educate yourself instead of posting nonsense. Alcohol should be your target. You know, the drug people die from on a daily basis. But hell, you probably drink alcohol yourself. So that’s accepted.

        • Pink Slime

I put whiskey in my cereal in the morning. Other than that don’t touch the stuff.

      • Armed&Friendly

i hope you get cancer and die puking your guts out from chemo like my aunt did. PHUCK YOU!

        • Pink Slime

What do I have to do with your Aunt getting cancer? Are you a stupid obama voter?

      • RAINSCRYPT

        “white man”??

Don’t you mean to say Caucasian? No, of course not, since you are one of the most hypocritical, self indulgent losers on this entire site.
Normally, I don’t give a damn what you say – your perspective is usually so skewed and nonsensical that you make the truly ignorant appear intelligent by comparison – but at times i will respond to your inanities only because I despise you.

Yes,I am obligated to inform you that you are despicable. Your comments make my skin crawl.

        • Pink Slime

I’m glad you got my point for that is how the negro sees you, see? So the rest of your comment should be applied to the negro up there.

But you can’t because you are racist, see?

This is exactly the problem in this country. Non-Representative government. The DEA is an agency of the people the laws are made by the people not by the DEA. Who the hell said, they have absolutely power over the people.

    • Armed&Friendly

the DEA is a gift from Richard Nixon that keeps giving…… Ronny Raygun gave the evil cops Civil Asset Forfeiture, allowing them to LITERALLY STEAL billions of dollars annually from WE THE PEOPLE, in marijuana busts. the police are ADDICTED to civil asset forfeiture dollars and are shaking down out-of-state motorists for cash and not filing criminal charges. they simply take your money and let you go on your not-so merry way. the drug war has corrupted every cop-shop in America….. if you think that you can take your money out of the bank and drive across the country sightseeing, think again. the cops will steal it! filth filth filth. the murdered Donald Scott in his home so that they could steal his land to add to the adjacent state park. google: ” civil asset forfeiture Donald Scott”. but don’t complain because YOU VOTED FOR IT…

Every now and then our state officers do tell D.C. to piss off. We are, last time I looked the 2d highest support state. We send 20% more income to D.C. than we get back. The world’s wealthiest man lives here and he supports our decriminalization of cannabis. So in a case like this where the state is now raking in and saving (on incarceration and trials) billions, the feds are getting the finger.

Big Pharma and the Liquor companies have a LOT to lose. They will answer to God for demonising something that could have been free from God for humanbeings. I have an aunt with excruciating cancer and people with Rheumatoid Arthritis who have to take opioids to the point where they want to sleep all the time. How DARE governments decide on a plant. And yet nothing stops me from eating a bloom of Oleander and die. Satan rules all the kings of the world.
