Over the past decade, pollsters charted something unusual: Americans—long known for their charity—are fleeing organized religion in increasing numbers. The vast majority still believe in God, however, the rejection of any religious affiliation is rapidly accelerating.
According to a PRRI.org article titled, “Exodus: Why Americans are Leaving Religions- and why they’re unlikely to come back”
“Today, nearly four in ten (39%) young adults (ages 18-29) are religiously unaffiliated—three times the unaffiliated rate (13%) among seniors (ages 65 and older). While previous generations were also more likely to be religiously unaffiliated in their twenties, young adults today are nearly four times as likely as young adults a generation ago to identify as religiously unaffiliated.

No, this is not an “epidemic”.
Lisa, you know as well as I do there is a reason for this, and in many cases people are tired of being brow beat every Sunday and told how bad they are, while leaders build bigger homes and bigger churches laying extreme pressure upon the backs of the faithful.
People get tired of it, period. It is all about the money. Some churches do a great job at helping others, and being an actual light, but most are all about the money and lying to the flock telling them the more they give the more they GET. That in itself is a major lie.
Some folks are beginning to ask the questions they were always afraid to ask…in regards to their beliefs. Some are tired of the hollywood style drama coming from their pastors, the threats, the teaching of a god who kills and slaughters and tortures those who will not submit to such sadistic teachings. That in itself wears a person down and some to the point they can no longer follow or live under that manner of religious tyranny.
Think on those things, and you will understand WHY people are leaving their churches and stopping their support because many can no longer give all they are asked to give, often for “projects” that continue to get more expensive.
Just a question Lisa: WHY does anyone need to identify with a religious affiliation?
What are you implying is a “deep price”?
Are implying yet again that your god will punish everyone because some are walking away from the mind rape. You cannot just make veiled threats to people like this, and then wonder WHY they leave. It gets old, and people are tired of being threatened about everything.
Most have a very good reason why they walk away. Much of it no longer makes sense to them.
If you just could state what convinced you that a god exist…. and then why it is christian…. then there would not be any doubt…

Way off base as usual! You don’t even realize this is a good thing! Organized religion is false! Wake up! Open your eyes! U don’t need to be in any organization to worship Yahweh! And shouldn’t be!
