New Ruger M77 Hawkeye Long-Range Target in 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC (PHOTOS)

Set apart by a speckled laminate stock and popular short-action 6.5mm chamberings, the newest branches of the M77 family tree are designed to go the distance.

Ruger introduced the new Hawkeye Long-Range Target line in .300 Win earlier this year featuring a distinctive two-tone stock with incorporated comb and pull-length adjustments and a cold hammer-forged 4140 chrome-moly steel barrel with 5R rifling that ends in a threaded muzzle and the same hybrid brake as seen on the Ruger Precision Rifle. Adding to the series this week are offerings that bring the same features but are chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC.

Each rifle features a 20 MOA Picatinny rail on mounts machined directly to the receiver to provide a foundation for serious optics while the one-piece stainless bolt works in tandem with a Mauser-style controlled round feed extractor for positive extraction. Weight is 11-pounds while overall length is 47.5 to 48.5 inches depending on stock spacers.

The series utilizes AI-style detachable box magazines and the Hawkeye ships with a single 3-round magazine in the 6.5 PRC variant, while the Creedmoor runs a 10-round mag. While the earlier .300 Win LRT comes standard with a 24-inch barrel, both of the new 6.5s have 26-inchers.

MSRP across the M77 Hawkeye Long-Range Target line is $1,279, with prices at the gun counter likely closer to the $1K mark.
