Tanker Attacks Another Likely False Flag After All

Last Thursday TLB went against the grain by suggesting that attacks on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman may have actually be carried out by Iran rather than being another cynical false flag. (The latter was the majority position in the alternative / independent media from the start).

However, after giving it a few days to allow for the evidence to come in it appears that this was indeed a deep state false flag after all.

(Editor’s note: TLB doesn’t apologize for asking questions and considering multiple angles. If we in the independent media stop thinking critically and weighing the evidence we become an echo chamber pushing narratives and not truth-seekers informing the public.) 

The Evidence

Recall that one of the tankers hit in the Gulf of Oman was Japanese. The Japanese government has tellingly asked for more proof showing that Iran was indeed the culprit.

Japan Today reports:

A source close to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said, “[American claims] are not definite proof that it’s Iran.”

“Even if it’s the United States that makes the assertion, we cannot simply say we believe it,” he said.

If having expertise sophisticated enough to conduct the attack could be a reason to conclude that the attacker was Iran, “That would apply to the United States and Israel as well,” said a source at the Foreign Ministry.(Emphasis added)

Thus the Japanese source left open the possibility of an American or Israeli false flag.

After only a few hours Secretary of State Mike Pompeo essentially argued Thursday that the attacks used a level of sophistication that required a State Actor and thus it had to be Iran:

“It is the assessment of the United States government that the Islamic Republic of Iran is responsible for the attacks that occurred in the Gulf of Oman today,” Pompeo told reporters.

“This assessment is based on intelligence, the weapons used, the level of expertise needed to execute the operation, recent similar Iranian attacks on shipping, and the fact that no proxy group operating in the area has the resources and proficiency to act with such a high degree of sophistication,” Pompeo said.

Basically Iran did it because no one else could have done it. That’s quite the case there Secretary Pompeo.

Why is it so far-fetched to think that Israeli Mossad could have trained ISIS fighters to pull off such an attack? Or maybe the Bolton-backed MEK operatives to do it. (The MEK is a cult-like Marxist opposition group in Iran.) If this is the case the tanker attacks in question may very well have been the proof of concept phase setting the stage for wider future operations.

What is more, the attacks occurred even as Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Iran and met separately with President Hassan Rouhani and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Why would Iran attack a Japanese tanker when Japan relies on Iranian oil and is a good business partner – while Prime Minister Abe was there?

Hmmm….

As a matter of fact it has been reported that PM Abe was sent to Iran by President Trump to deliver a message of peace. Evidently somebody wanted to torpedo any potential détente between the United States and Iran – literally.

On top of this the owner of the Japanese ship that was attacked has contradicted the U.S. version of what happened. While the Trump Administration claimed the ship was hit with a mine, Yutaka Katada stated that the vessel was hit with a flying object. The Washington Post reports:

“The crew are saying it was hit with a flying object. They say something came flying toward them, then there was an explosion, then there was a hole in the vessel,” he told reporters. “Then some crew witnessed a second shot.”

Whether the object was a missile, a penetrating bullet or an aerial drone is not clear. If Iran really did this why the need to lie about what actually happened?

As evidence of Washington’s position the U.S. Military released a video purportedly showing an Iranian boat with Revolutionary Guard removing an unexploded mine from the side of the ship – ostensibly to hide the evidence.

Other than the footage looking like it came from an 8 mm camera used during the Great Depression, the first thought any rational person would have is why would they send a boat full of people to remove a deadly live mine? Does it make any sense at all to needlessly endanger so many lives?

Also the footage is full of clumsy cuts that destroy any continuity. Perhaps it was a rescue boat that was removing a magnetic or suction device meant to secure a ladder on the side of a ship?

In short the supposed smoking gun video proves nothing at all.

In conclusion the evidence has tipped the balance in favor of yet another false flag event rather than an actual Iranian attack, which of course is what the general public is being told.
