2. Some Mold Can Make Your Food Taste Better

Usually, the discovery of mold on your food is the first sign it’s needs thrown out ASAP. But then again, that depends on exactly what type of food you’re looking at.

Many different types of cheese count on mold for their flavor and color. Blue cheese is one of the most common.

But not to worry. These types of mold come from the same family as penicillin. Which leads to another interesting fact… some people who are allergic to penicillin can have a food allergy to blue cheese.

3. Other Types of Mold Can Kill You

Most people know mold has the ability to make someone sick, but did you know it can kill?

Stachybotrys, or black mold, is one of the most toxic types of mold there is. And it’s almost impossible to get rid of. Bleach has little effect on it and decreasing humidity levels only increases the amount of spores it releases.

Another mold, Aspergillus, is linked to the legend of King Tut’s curse. The deaths of 27 archeologists who removed King Tut from his tomb spawned the curse rumors. Come to find out, there was an extreme amount of Aspergillus mold in the tomb which led to their deaths.

4. Mold Comes in Different Colors

You may have never thought of mold as being pretty. But it grows in more colors than the usual black or gray most people think of.

Mold can grow in hues of orange, green, and white.

And these colors can help you identify the type of mold it is. Which helps in getting rid of it correctly.

5. Antique Shops and Flower Stores Have High Exposure to Mold

Sure, you think of bathrooms, locker rooms, and dingy spots as being the obvious places for mold. But surprisingly, antique shops and flower stores are hotbeds for it as well.
