When our team thinks of unique and cool housing, our imaginations definitely go further than a house with an extra-large garage.

Inspired by ancient predecessors who used to live in trees, this unique Japanese fixture boasts 100% transparent walls. That means no privacy from one another while inside. And even scarier, zero privacy from onlookers on the outside–Yikes!

We can only imagine what sort of a security risk this poses since people can spy on you, scope out all your belongings, and see if you’re home or not. Still, you have to admit… this house definitely ranks among the coolest houses.

2. Skateboard House in the United States

Skateboard house is only a concept at this point, but it’s planned to get built in Malibu, California. The concept for this home on our coolest houses list is that all surfaces, walls, furniture, etc. will be skateboard accessible.

That means being able to grind on bookcases, ollie over tables, and take a half-pipe up to the restroom. Pretty gnarly, bro.

3. Water Tower Home in Belgium

Have you ever wanted to turn a creepy old water tower into a home? Yeah, neither have we. But that could be because we don’t have the guts!

Fortunately for humanity, some people have guts to spare. This visionary man took a 100-foot water tower that’s a former Nazi hideout and turned it into an upper-class living space.

We definitely love the design of this space but aren’t a fan of the fact that it’s definitely haunted…

4. Flintstones Home in the United States

If you’re a fan of cartoons and have a few million dollars laying around, we’ve got an opportunity for you. Television legend Dick Clark built a home in Malibu that’s made to replicate the house from The Flintstones!

At last sale, the price of the house was 3.5 million dollars. So worth it!

5. The Hobbit House in Wales

Rounding out our coolest homes list is another media inspired home, The Hobbit House.

Believe it or not, this outstanding-looking space got built in 4 months and only cost $5,200 to create. While it doesn’t provide the kind of luxury places like Millbrook Homes does, just two people built The Hobbit House using all-natural materials!
