Danger Pay: 10 of the Deadliest Jobs Around

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Jobs are tough, but some are downright risky. Men and women put themselves in danger’s hands every day to save others.

Some just aren’t happy unless they are getting their hands dirty. These jobs don’t always pay well and they aren’t exactly what you expect.

A job that is as simple as entertainment can go wrong. These people go to great length because they love the reactions that come out of their audience. When it becomes risky is when they are a target assistant.

See, not everything is what it seems. Here are ten of the most dangerous jobs you’ll find around the globe.

1. Firefighter

Firefighters go through several obstacles every day. They charge into burning buildings, face deadly chemicals spills, and harmful gasses, all to save the lives of others.

While their job is very noble and rewarding, it’s also one of the most dangerous and is also very challenging.

2. Fisherman

When you think of fisherman you might think of those who do it as a hobby at the comfort of their pond but for the most part, being a fisherman is actually very dangerous.

They have to charge out in harsh weather conditions and work with heavy machinery while running off of a few hours of sleep if they’re lucky.

Many fishermen die from accidentally being thrown overboard, the large machines and other errors with their gear, or hypothermia from freezing conditions.

3. Logger

Loggers spend hours at a time cutting down trees with fast-moving machinery. This fact alone makes it one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.

Many loggers are injured or killed on the job due to trees falling on them or because of the equipment that they are using.

4. Microchip Manufacturer

Being a microchip manufacturer might seem like a safe job on the surface but it’s actually really risky but computer chips are created using tons of hazardous chemicals like arsenic.

The damage that is done doesn’t always happen right away either. A lot of times it’s more long-term. It’s not uncommon for things like birth defects, miscarriages, respiratory illnesses, and cancer to happen.

5. Roofer

Being a roofer isn’t exactly easy. They have to climb rooftops every day to install or repair them. The weather also has a say in how safe the job is.

During the colder months, the risk of falling is more likely due to snow and ice. During the summer they work for several hours out in the intense heat which can cause fainting or heatstroke.

6. Bull Rider

Bull riders have been popular since the 90s and it’s probably not going anywhere anytime soon. Riders are promised large amounts of money after their second ride but it’s not always worth it.

Bull riding can cause injuries like fractures, broken bones, concussions, and even death in some cases. The adrenaline that comes from the activity is great, but there are other ways to win money.

7. Snake Milker

Snake milking is an essential job and it saves many lives each year, but it’s also one of the most deadly ones around. While on the job, there are safety precautions that are put in place, but they don’t always stop employees from being bitten.

The venom from the snakes that your working with is also very fast acting so it can be a challenge to get to help on time.

8. Sulfur Miner

Sulfer miners carry the extremely heavy substance out of volcanos for hardly any pay. Sulfer is also very toxic and has the potential to burn an employee’s lungs and eyes.

It also doesn’t do wonders for their throat and chest either.

Once they have about 90 pounds or so worth of sulfur they carry it out of the volcano to sell for a very small amount.

9. Target Assistant

Target assistants either love what they do, love the paycheck that comes with doing it, or a little bit of both. They put themselves at the mercy of a magician by trusting them not to hit them with knives and other hazards like fire.

If the magician is just off by a little bit, or even sneezes mid throw the audience will be faced with tragedy rather than entertainment. The adrenaline that comes from it is unreal and the joy of the audience is always a rush, but there is a ton of danger in it.

10. Power Line Worker

Being a powerline worker is one of the most challenging jobs in the world. They have to climb at great heights using heavy equipment while being in really hazardous weather conditions.

It goes without saying that they need to have great balance to do this job. While they are provided safety gear like an FR Shirt, they still risk falling.

So while it’s inconvenient in most cases to go without power for a few hours, just remember that the power line workers are trying their best, but it’s a really tough job.

The Most Dangerous Jobs Around

Not every job is as simple as clocking in, working at a desk for a few hours, and clocking out. Some risk their lives every day doing what they do. It’s hard in most cases and doesn’t always pay the best, but someone has to do it.

There are some who do it for more than just the paycheck like firefighters who are passionate about saving lives, or target assistants who love seeing the reaction the audience gives.

So, next time you see one of these people think about how they are doing one of the most dangerous jobs in the world and thank them for their services.

Doing a dangerous job isn’t the only way that you can make money. Keep reading to see a few weird ways that you can bring home the bacon
