The Year Of Discontent

As the nation approaches another decade there are many questions on how the US will be able to solve the many crisis of our times. The political process of today has made it quite obvious to one looking at the United States from outside the main stream that both the Democratic and Republican parties continue to be redundant and quite spiteful toward anyone who challenges the status-quo. Thus, the many crisis remain unsolved putting millions of not only Americans in peril but millions more world wide.

The money game that is played in our political process has corrupted the very core of our democracy. For decades Congress has lived by rules that are designed to only perpetuate a ruling class that has shown really no sympathy for the majority of Americans. By virtue of their legislation over the years has systematically dismantled our four founding principles of Liberty, Justice, Education and Morality. Just recently though when an individual questions the non conformity of not following party lines as was the case with freshman congresswoman Cortez we find that this individual does have a conscious in an otherwise unconscionable network of many current members of Congress.

Speaking of unconscionable behavior all one has to do is look at President Trump in his handling of affairs. With the bravado befitting of the world’s greatest con artist his insistence of constructing a boarder wall is well documented. If he had been a student of history though he would have realized that walls soon fail their original purpose. In ancient times the walls of Jericho fell. Then the Great Wall of China which was nothing more than an ambitious project by a vain emperor. Sounds just like Trump. But, unfortunately for China most invaders simply rode around the wall. The same thing can be said of the Hadrian Wall in England where the tribes in Scotland just went around the wall and invaded the Roman’s.

When you stop and really think about it walls in history have been notorious failures. Another example of a walls failure were the walls surrounding the Alamo. In 1836 those walls didn’t stop Santa Anna’s army from overtaking the Alamo and killing all the defenders including Col. Travis Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett. In 1987 then President Reagan urged Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. As we have seen all through-out history when ever rulers site and commit to building walls as protective barriers they always fail.

The great tragedy here is we have a sitting President who is held over 1 million Americans hostage in political infighting with Congress. Meanwhile, the American public many of whom are directly affected by this tragedy are left financially and emotionally scared because their livelihoods have been striped away by a President who has yet to learn the lessons that history is supposed to teach us.

Yet, there is plenty of blame to go around. Our Republican and Democratic members of congress can be considered accessories to the fact of the government shutdown. The shear stupidity and audacity of leaders of government along with a complicit media continue the needless suffering of millions of Americans. This when in fact the public will be directly accountable to fund this Boarder Wall when we know it will fail.
