What Needs to Be Done

The day our national and world economies come crashing down will be a very sad day, indeed.  This is because nobody seems to be doing anything about it.  Congress just kicks the ball down the road.  They just want to tax and spend.  We need to be proactive instead of waiting until it happens and be reactive.  That is no way to solve our looming problems.

We must not increase the debt level above $14.4 trillion.  We need to live within a national budget, reduce taxes, reduce government by one-half, eliminate waste, reduce regulations, and stop printing currency not backed by gold.  We need to eliminate Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, eliminate foreign aid, keep out of frivolous wars like in Libya, establish a consumption tax of about 25%, and eliminate payroll taxes and FICA taxes.  We need to eliminate Obamacare, eliminate most social entitlement programs, and make it a felony if Congress continues to raid the Social Security funds.

We also need to stop borrowing money, pay up the national debt, eliminate the Internal Revenue Service, eliminate the Department of Education, and eliminate the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency.  We need to start drilling for oil and natural gas in the CONUS, mine for more coal (and use it to generate energy), stop buying oil from the Middle East, and make it a federal crime to do any future pork-barreling earmarks.  I can go on and on but will stop here.

We should cut the numbers of elected officials in Congress by one-half, establish six-year term limits for members of both houses of Congress, pass the proposed 28th Amendment, outlaw lobbying and lobbyists, and eliminate all perks for all elected officials in Washington, DC.  This would be only a start of what we must do to solve our terminal fiscal problems.
