Ridiculous Wacko Birds

Leave it to U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to do everything they can to ruin a good thing.

After conservatives led an inspiring filibuster this week that forced President Obama to publicly oppose the unconstitutional use of drones against Americans on U.S. soil, Senators McCain and Graham rebuked conservatives for taking such a stand.

McCain said, “I don’t think what happened yesterday was helpful to the American people.”

Graham said, “This idea that we’re going to use a drone to attack an American citizen in a cafe in America is ridiculous.”

If it’s so ridiculous, why was it so hard for the Attorney General to answer the question? Why did it take several letters, multiple congressional hearings, and a 13-hour filibuster to produce a simple answer?

We all know why. This President doesn’t think there are limits to his power.

What’s “ridiculous” is for these two senators to defend the rights of terrorists overseas against water-boarding, but then refuse to defend the rights of Americans to due process before being killed on American soil.

And since Senator Graham brought it up, the other thing that’s “ridiculous” — his record.

He is liberal on taxes, liberal on spending, liberal on bailouts, liberal on energy, liberal on immigration, liberal on judges, and liberal on corporate welfare. Yet he’s from one of the most conservative states in the country.

Now that’s ridiculous.

Unfortunately, the verbal attacks didn’t stop.

Senator McCain then called conservatives “wacko birds” and said they were not “reflective of the views of the majority of Republicans.”

When asked who he was talking about, McCain said, “Rand Paul, Cruz, Amash, whoever.”

Senators McCain and Graham are probably upset because people were more excited about the conservative filibuster on Wednesday night than their dinner with President Obama, but that’s no reason for them to lose their cool.

Conservatives are often criticized for being uncompromising, but if you disagree with these RINOs you better watch out. They have zero tolerance for disent and will say just about anything to defeat their opponents.

Remember when Senator Graham called those who oppose amnesty “bigots” and told them to “shut up“? Yet just last week Allegheny College awarded him with the Prize for Civility in Public Life.

Now that’s truly ridiculous.

Thank you for your support. We’ll keep fighting and we won’t hesitate to defend principled leaders when they’re attacked.
