Shocking History of Abortion. What Does The Future Hold For Americans?

Abortion rights advocacy moved to the center stage after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced controversial amendments to the state’s longstanding abortion law, now called the Reproductive Health Act. The Act removes abortion from the state’s penal code and provides a greater opportunity for women to get abortions after 24 weeks. The significant and sudden changes prompted me to investigate the origins of abortion in America, which led me to its connection to communism and an eye-opening interview with New York Times best-selling author Dr. Paul Kengor, an international authority on communism.

My guest is going to talk about the history and the future of abortion in this country, and I think it has become a pretty hot topic again. The reason I believe this is because of the recent changes in the New York State abortion law, and some other states are also trying to adopt the same changes. Ultimately what these changes do is to permit a woman to have an abortion beyond 24 weeks and even up to 9 months in certain circumstances.

When I first heard about New York’s new law, I thought, well if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade and places more restrictions on abortion, the state law won’t be effective for very long. Under the constitution, federal laws always take precedence over state laws. So, I started to wonder what was really behind these changes, and why such a strong push for protecting these particular rights. Some questions popped into my mind, like what are the historical origins of abortion…Who promoted the concept of abortion as a means to protect a woman’s rights. What role did abortion play in the destruction of the traditional family. And how were women convinced that abortion was a solution to their problems.

This issue of abortion rights is about more than a woman’s right to choose. It’s about what we believe in, the history of America, and lost traditional values.

I wanted to dig out after 46 years of the same abortion laws, why is there suddenly a renewed tension over a woman’s right to abort, and more importantly why would a state expand a woman’s right to have an abortion whenever she wants to.

So before we get to today’s guest, I’d like to read a passage from a newspaper called the Epoch Times, which publishes an editorial series called “How the Specter of Communism is Ruling Our World.”

Take a listen to today’s guest Dr. Paul Kengor, an internationally recognized authority on the topic of communism. That’s probably due in no small part to the numerous books and articles that he has written on the topic, so it’s no surprise that he is a New York Times Best Seller, and he hit #1 in non-fiction at both Amazon and Barnes & Noble.com. One of the books he wrote is called “Takedown: From Communists to Progressives, How the Left Has Sabotaged Family and Marriage, is very relevant to our topic today. Dr. Kengor teaches political science at Grove City College, and serves as executive director of the college’s Center for Vision & Values.

I am thrilled that Dr. Kengor was able to talk with me about abortion and family values. I spoke to him via telephone as he was on his way to the CPAC conference in Washington, DC.

The first thing I asked him was how did communism get officially introduced to society because I think that’s where the root of abortion lies.
