May Music Recap

May was a good month for music. Borderline my favorite artist Conor Oberst came out with an outstanding second solo work that continued his path into folk with his unmatched songwriting. Along those same lines were Neil Young and Jessica Lea Mayfield. On the more fun side was Chromeo and the Roots. Lastly, even though the original Thickfreakness era Black Keys are gone and never coming back it appears, I liked Turn Blue better than the past two Black Keys records. Still think they need to get away from so much Danger Mouse produced sound.

What are we looking forward to this June? The frontman for one of my favorite bands (The Walkmen) has his first solo album – Hamilton Leithauser. The pretty harmonies of First Aid Kit, the unpredictable folk of my 2012 top album winner The Felice Brothers, the rock icon himself Jack White has his second record, the always underrated  The Antlers and finally the how much should we hate her sounds of Lana Del Ray.
