Renaissance Gold finds 'meaningful' gold grades in first hole at Ecru project

Renaissance Gold Inc (CVE:REN) (OTCQB:RNSGF) has reported encouraging drill results from the Ecru project in Lander County, Nevada, via its earn-in partner S2 Resources.

Two holes, totaling 4,105 feet, were sunk aiming to determine various aspects of the geology.

One hole hit a number of narrow low-grade, gold-silver intervals with a best result of 3.66 metres (m) at 1.65 g/t gold and 9.7 g/t silver from 99.06 metres, including 1.22 metres at 3.4 g/t gold and 3.6 g/t silver.

There were no significant intercepts in the second hole, the Reno, Nevada-based company said.

The Ecru project lies north of Barrick‘s (NYSE:GOLD) giant Cortez gold mining complex, which comprises a number of individually significant gold deposits, including the Pipeline deposit at around 20M ounces, Cortez Hills at around 15M ounces and Goldrush at around 12 million ounces.

The presence of gold plus anomalous pathfinder elements in the shallower parts of a Carlin system can be a very positive indicator of a more robust system at depth. Renaissance,  a prospect generator firm,  highlighted that the intervals of elevated gold and silver occur in zones of brecciation, silicification and alteration, within broader haloes of antimony, arsenic, mercury, copper, zinc, molybdenum and tellurium anomalism.

This is similar to that at Barrick‘s 2.7 million ounce Robertson gold deposit, which is located immediately south of the Ecru project, it said.
