Disabled Vet Need Help

I am a disabled veteran who lives in the state of North Dakota. I spent 6 years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force. For the past 15 years, I have struggled with involuntary muscle contractions that make it almost impossible from me to sleep once my muscle spasms begin. I have tried countless new medications, changed my eating habits, I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t smoke however; nothing to date has provided me much relief from my debilitating muscle spasms. Because I am unable to sleep very well causing me to lack the energy necessary to function very well during the day. As a result, I’ve slowly watched my health decline. Two months ago, I was 60 lbs over weight and had developed sleep apnea. I would constantly wake up gasping for air. This only compounded my health issues.

After consulting several out-of-state medical doctors, I learned that many people who were suffering from the same debilitating spasms as me were being successfully treated with medicinal marijuana. According to MD mark Buchfuhrer, “Medical marijuana is recognized as a legitimate medical application for many disease states. He goes on to state, “Restless Legg syndrome (severe involuntary muscle contractions) is one disease for which patients are looking to experiment with medical marijuana to relive symptoms when more conventional treatments are unsuccessful, too expensive or cause unwanted side effects.”

In order to save my own life, I finally had to reach out to a MD from a state other than North Dakota who reviewed my past medications then chose to prescribed me a 1 month’s supply of medicinal marijuana. I followed the prescription recommendations and over the course of 1 month, I lost 30 lbs. This was due to the fact that I was able to administer a dose prior to going to bed each night and as a result, I no longer experienced the debilitating effects of muscle spasms. Thank God! My sleep apnea has since subsided and for the first time in over 7 years, I’m now able to sleep in the same bed as my wife. I can honestly say that I’m now feeling healthier than I have in over 10 years.

Unfortunately, North Dakota state bureaucrats still appear perplexed that pills and prune juice aren’t the only remedies for most medical alignments. Because of this, the state of North Dakota sill allows the intrusive random drug tests to be conducted to at a person’s employment in order to weed out those of individuals seeking relief from their debilitating alignments without the use of pills and prune juice. To be certain, most pharmaceutical companies  are opposed to medicinal marijuana as they’re concerned about the loss of revenue from  their opioid sales. According to www.opensecrets.com, ”pharmaceutical companies have contributed a combined $15,003,187 to Democrats, Republicans, Liberal groups and Conservative Groups so far in 2018. 

I know medicinal marijuana saved my life. Being healthy in extremely important to me as i have a sickly family. My youngest son suffers from 22q11 deletion syndrome, my wife struggles with debilitating migraines in which she will be going to the Mayo clinic for treatments hopefully soon. I don’t have time to play politics with my life. My family needs me healthy. Instead of North Dakota bureaucrats treating my like a marijuana menace to society, why don’t begin embracing their herbs natural healing qualities. For every pill commercial on T.V. these days, there are at least the same amount of comparable attorney commercials suggesting that you call them if you have ever experienced adverse side effects from these pills. It’s a lucrative business for both pill companies and attorneys. It’s time commonsense won out. 

As I write this letter, understand that the company that I work for has suspended me without pay until I get back on pills, regardless if they work.Although I had taken a considerable amount of time reaching out to various medical professional throughout the state of North Dakota to find help for my spasms, I an now considered a moderate marijuana user who will need to attend a program to help me get off a proven treatment and back on pills.
