A lot of U.S. healthcare practitioners just follow script-like, ordered patterns of diagnosis and treatment, because they are afraid of losing their jobs, accused of not following outdated hospital procedures, being sued, etc. They aren’t given adequate time to look at or consider recent info. patients bring up on the internet with regard to new methods of treatment. It’s like they are just exhausted and trying to get through the day. I can easily picture someone coming in with Ebola and being diagnosed with the flu. (Because it’s easier to just assume it’s that, and probably more in line with institutional protocol.) Also – I’m afraid we need to stop the practice of shaking hands. Some diseases can spread that way, but people do it all the time. (I believe Ebola can spread that way.)

We now live in a globalized world. It’s only a matter of time before there’s another super virus and there will be no way of stopping it spreading globally as, by the time we’re aware of it and have figured out the country of origin, it will already be too late.
