Reports of police arresting Salazar Members in Sonora and handing them to rivals

Through messages broadcast on WhatsApp, it was reported that the vehicle in which three people were riding became stuck in the sand. Municipal police arrived, who realized that the people who were stuck, were members of the Salazars.

They were arrested for being drunk. However, according to the reports, they were not taken to a command center, they were handed over to a rival group.

Supposedly, due to these actions, the green light was given to “unleash the war against the groups that remain there and the municipal police”.

In another recording, broadcast through WhatsApp, it is said that the people taken are “very heavy hitters” of the Salazar group, narcotraffickers in Chihuahua.

The men were on vacation at San Carlos beach. In this audio, the same version is given that municipal police took them and handed them over to an opposing group from Guaymas. It also states that the three people were killed.

The Salazar are now threatening to kill as many police as possible resulting in many places of business being closed.

The governor of Sonora, has acknowledged a security problem in Guaymas, but stops short of confirming the reports of yesterday regarding the kidnappings.

Who are the Salazars?

The Salazar is a group that has been operating since the 90s in Sonora, but its members are from the municipality of Chínipas, Chihuahua. The founding leader is Adán Salazar Zamorano , a drug trafficker who for just over two decades, and until his arrest in 2011, served as the main producer and distributor of marijuana in the Valle del Mayo region, with an operation center in the city of Navojoa. .

Among his closest collaborators were his sons Jesús Alfredo Salazar Ramírez, arrested in 2012, and Adán Salazar, murdered in 2016.

Currently the group is headed by Crispín Salazar Zamorano, brother of Adán (currently imprisoned). They are the main operator for the Sinaloa cartel in the Sonora and Chihuahua border with Arizona, United States.
