The violence in the State of Colima claimed the lives of eight people on Wednesday, within 24 hours, in different events registered in several municipalities of the entity.
It all started when two men were executed in the afternoon, inside a car lot on the Third Ring Peripheral, in the Villa Izcalli neighborhood of Villa de Álvarez. Later, in the Tabachines neighborhood, in the same municipality, a human head was found during the early morning hours , with a presumed narco-message , no report of what it said.
In the municipality of Colima , a corpse was found inside a car on the Cardona – Buena Vista highway. In Manzanillo, a man who riding a bicycle was shot to death by two men on motorcycles, in Pedros Nunez, Colonia Las Palmas. Also, a man received several bullet wounds when attacked by an armed group . The victim died early this Thursday in Barrio 4 of the Valley of Las Garzas.
In Tecomán, in Cerro de Ortega, the body of a man was located in an irrigation canal who had signs of blunt blows .
In an area of the Coalatilla community, in Armory, they also located the body of a man, with bullet wounds . In addition, the Attorney General’s Office attended the report of two suspicious ice chests, in Marimar and Manzanillo colonies.
The unit reported that in the first cooler were found remains of one animal and while the second was empty. In both sites they also found other objects that were under the protection of the public prosecutor’s office for investigation.

Data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP) indicate that during September, 2,542 investigative files were initiated for this crime. In the figure 2 percent is greater than that of August, which accumulated 2,490, and the second highest monthly of the last two decades. The month with the highest number of investigations for intentional homicide is July 2018, with 2,603 folders initiated by the State Attorney’s Offices and Public Prosecutor’s Offices.
With the 2,542 cases of September, Mexico added 21,383 murders in the first nine months of the year, amount 17.8 percent higher than the same period of 2017.
The highest figure for an identical period since 1997, when the SESNSP began to systematize criminal statistics at the national level. Organizations have warned that the crisis of violence in the country demonstrates the failure of the anti-government strategy of the outgoing Government.
COLIMA: In the State of Colima, 41 intentional homicides were recorded in July, the number increased to 49 in August, and finally in September the murders increased to 51. So far in 2018 according to this government agency that collects the statistics of the states, in Colima there have been 447 intentional homicides: 56 in January; 51 in February; 52 in March; 46 in April; 49 in May; 52 in June; 41 in July; 49 in August; and 51 in September.
HOMICIDE IN 18 STATES: Although the State of Colima is not the only one, in September, the crime of intentional homicide increased by 18 entities compared to the previous month.
The statistics of SESNSP reflect growth in Aguascalientes, Baja California Sur, Coahuila, Colima, Chiapas, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Jalisco, State of Mexico, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo Leon, Queretaro, Sonora, Tlaxcala, Veracruz and Zacatecas.
The official data is clear:
In 2015, the number of murders from January to September was 13,700 victims; for 2016 it grew 17 thousand 40, and in 2017 (year that was already a record in violence), the balance until September was 21 thousand 460 victims. This is an increase of more than 85 percent of homicides and femicides in three years, and an increase of 18 percent compared to 2017 alone, which, until now, had been the most violent year of the last two decades.
This year, 4 people are murdered every hour in Mexico, or what is the same, more than 94 men and women who lose their lives violently every day. The states with the highest rate of intentional homicides so far this year are Colima, with 58.84 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants; Baja California with a rate of 56.67 cases; Guerrero with 46.70; Chihuahua with 37.39, and Guanajuato with 32.49.
