"La Mora" Detained in Nuevo Leon, Being Extradited to the US

Falls in NL :”La Mora”, required in the US for homicide and criminal association

MEXICO CITY: Luis Lauro Ramírez Bautista, alias “La Mora” or “La China” and designated as operator of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel, was detained by the Federal Police in Nuevo León on Dec 14th.

The ministerial elements completed an arrest warrant for the purpose of extradition to the United States against “La Mora”, who is required by the Federal Court for the Northern District of Texas, to be prosecuted for his probable responsibility in the crimes of murder and criminal association.

Ramírez Bautista is credited with participating, along with other people, in the killing of Juan Jesús Guerrero-Chapa, lawyer of the ex-leader of the Gulf Cartel, Osiel Cárdenas Guillén, registered on May 22, 2013, in Southlake, Texas.

Ramírez Bautista was arrested by state authorities when leaving a bar in Monterrey, NL. He was carrying a gun at the time . He tried to flee through a checkpoint in the Barrio Antiguo neighborhood; but authorities chased him down, at which point he resisted arrest and pointed his gun at the arresting offices.

The defendant was detained in the Cadereyta Prison, Nuevo León, for his probable responsibility in the commission of the crime of carrying a firearm, however, he was released after an abbreviated procedure and at that time the court order was executed with detention for extradition purposes.

He was moved under tight security operations to Altiplano Prison on or about Dec 13th while he faces the extradition process. ”La Mora” was recently named as one of the most wanted targets by an international program for fugitives. It is called “Se Busca” in Mexico; and is used by Mexican and US federal authorities for tracking down key cartel bosses.

Lauro Ramírez was admitted to the Federal Social Rehabilitation Center number one, where he was available to the District Judge Specialized in the Accusatory Criminal System of the Federal Criminal Justice Center in the State of Mexico.
