Tamaulipas: 17 Cuban migrants rescued in Reynosa

The state government, through the Ministry of Public Security, rescued 17 migrants from Cuba on the afternoon of this Thursday, April 4.

The events took place around 1:30 p.m., local time, when Proximity Police personnel carried out security and surveillance work in the downtown area, where they were approached by a man who reported that in a hotel located a few blocks away, subjects attempted to force several people into a van.

Found upon arrival there were 15 adults and two minors, who said they were originally from Cuba and were waiting to be taken to the United States, however several unknown subjects in a white van with Texas state license plates arrived, then four other vehicles arrived, which worried them, so they looked for ways to ask for help.

According to the migrants, the people who tried to take them away fled, leaving the white van abandoned.

Given the situation, the Proximity Police requested the support of the National Institute of Migration to review the situation of Cubans in Mexican territory, They were being transferred to a migrant assistance center.
