Seven Policemen Killed in Durango, Mexico, Ambush, Two More Officers in Critical Condition

Durango, Durango. – Seven elements of the State Police died and two were injured early Thursday morning on the road to the town of San Francisco de Ocotán, in the municipality of El Mezquital, where they were ambushed by a large armed group. The police force was formed with 11 elements.

It is not known if the law enforcement officers managed to repel the attack and if they caused casualties among the attackers, but after a few minutes they requested support.

State police, crime Investigators and military personnel went to the site of the events where they carry out the search of the members of the aggressor group.

Two dead, not seven, says the Governor

The governor of Durango, José Rosas Aispuro Torres denied the information released by the Ministry of Public Security of the ambush, was incorrect. He claims that there were two police officers who died and not seven, as well as four injured and not two.
