Same old dirty tricks...

Dear Friend—When I wrote to you last week about our focus on securing the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court, I said that the radical left and their allies among Senate Democrats were determined to stop him at all costs and I feared that we hadn’t seen the last of their shenanigans. Just a couple of days later, right on cue, came the dirty trick they are hoping will derail or at least delay Kavanaugh’s confirmation, the infamous “sexual assault” allegation against him from his time as a high school student!

This is so predictable. They did the same thing against Clarence Thomas when he was nominated to the Supreme Court decades ago. They tried to use this against President Trump in the 2016 presidential election. And now they are using it against a supremely qualified nominee, someone who is a devout believer in Jesus Christ, who devotes himself as a volunteer to the less fortunate, who dearly loves his wife and family and who has gone out of his way to promote and mentor young women who wish to pursue a career in the law.

The Brett Kavanaugh we know bears no resemblance to the person he is accused of being by Dianne Feinstein, Cory Booker, and their cronies in the Senate.

We are determined to fight this dirty trick and redouble our efforts to confirm Judge Kavanaugh. Will you help?

Look, none of us knows what happened that night back in 1982 when it is alleged that Brett Kavanaugh tried to force a girl at a party into unwanted sexual conduct. We weren’t there. But we do know a few things about the situation:

• First, Brett Kavanaugh knows what happened and he vehemently denies the charges with no ifs, ands or buts about it. He says flatly they did not happen and he has no recollection of this woman whatsoever.
• Second, the allegation was known to Democrats for months and they sat on it until now, the eve of the confirmation vote. This smacks of desperation politics, something intentionally designed as a dirty trick to sully the reputation of a fine man who has been universally praised as an outstanding jurist.
• Third, the accusations have gaping holes and key detailed unremembered, while at the same time the names of two people have been revealed who could supposedly corroborate the fact that the incident took place. Yet both these individuals deny they have any knowledge of this event.
• Fourth, the lawyer representing the accuser is an infamous partisan Democrat who shows ever sign of being politically motivated.

When news of the allegations first surfaced, Democrats demanded that the accuser be heard and that her charges be given a fair hearing. I completely agree that she is entitled to have her accusation heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Indeed, such a hearing has been scheduled for this coming Monday. However, as I write this, the accuser’s attorney is saying she will not testify until there is a new independent investigation of the charges by the FBI. Of course, if an investigation was appropriate (the FBI says it is not), that would take weeks or months, giving the Democrats a chance to take control of the US Senate in the midterm elections.

Do you smell the stench of a dirty trick like I do, something that stinks of ‘delay and derail’? It is unadulterated hypocrisy for Democrats to sit on an allegation for months and then on the eve of the vote demand an investigation.

We’ve got to marshal every resource possible to continue to push for the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh. Mr. Kavanaugh is prepared to address the issues head on this coming Monday if the hearing goes forward. If the accuser fails to show, then the Judiciary Committee will vote next Wednesday, and the nomination will then go to the full Senate shortly thereafter.
