FOP Lodge 30-Monmouth Superior Officers Endorse Kiley and Scharfenberger for Freeholder

Freehold, NJ- The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #30, Monmouth County Superior Officers’ Association is proud to announce the endorsement of Sue Kiley and Gerry Scharfenberger for Monmouth County Freeholder in the November 6, 2018 election.

“Public Safety is one of the most important functions of county government,” Lodge President Shawn Reece said.  “Throughout their careers in public service, both Kiley and Scharfenberger have demonstrated their appreciation and support for the men and women who have dedicated themselves to the safety of others.”

Sue and Gerry stand head and shoulders over their opponents in their level of experience and, most importantly, with the dignity and respect with which they treat residents and employees.

Hazlet Deputy Mayor Kiley comes from a law enforcement family.  As a former Emergency Room Registered Nurse, she knows first-hand the life and death pressure that first responders face every day.

During her tenure in Hazlet, Kiley’s leadership has made a lives saving difference. Thanks to her listening and cooperation with the Township’s First Aid Squad and her subsequent advocacy with State officials, the New Jersey Department of Heath changed their rules regulating the use of Narcan by EMTs.  Due to Kiley’s efforts, First Aid Squads throughout New Jersey are now allowed to carry full doses of Narcan to treat overdose victims, whereas prior to her advocacy, EMTS where only allowed to use half doses.

Throughout his 14 years as member of the Middletown Township Committee and his one year as a Monmouth County Freeholder, Gerry Scharfenberger has demonstrated his commitment to excellence, innovation, and producing outstanding results for both taxpayers and government employees.

Under Scharfenberger’s leadership, Middletown has been consistently been named among the best places to live in the United States and the safest cities in New Jersey.  He is a leader in drug and alcohol addiction prevention and an effective innovator in creating public-private partnerships and faith based initiatives to impact public health and well-being.

“The Monmouth County Superior Officers proudly stand with Deputy Mayor Sue Kiley and Freeholder Gerry Scharfenberger and we ask Monmouth County residents to join our members in supporting them on November 6,” Reece said.
