Governor DeSantis Ready to Work as Quickly as Possible

As Ron DeSantis is inaugurated as the sunshine state’s 46^th Governor, he’s moving swiftly on making sure that things are done for the state of Florida.

He announced that he would soon be making important appointments to Florida’s Supreme Court, and he also informed that a major environmental initiative will be set while also working to improve the medical-marijuana system, which he’ll likely be discussing with Florida’s new Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried.

One other important topic that has been up for debate recently is whether or not any action will be taken against controversial political figure and Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel.

After attending a luncheon with legislative leaders and his Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez at Florida State University, he asserted to reporters that “Within the next week, I think you guys are going to have a lot to write about.”

On Wednesday, DeSantis will be making a Supreme Court appointment that will fill one of the three current vacancies, but he did not mention when the other two appointments will be made.

He stressed that making the right appointments are important because, recently, frustration has grown due to the court “constantly usurping more and more legislative power over the years.”

DeSantis further explained that “as we get that right, we will then have new horizons open to us legislatively to be able to (plow) new ground, new reforms, better reforms that are going to make Florida even stronger. It’s a great opportunity and I’m looking forward to doing it.”

In addition, Florida’s leadership, specifically House Speaker Jose Oliva and Senate President Bill Galvano, are both “optimistic” that common ground will be found with Governor DeSantis on issues that include the environment, health-care costs, education and the economy.

Oliva signaled this by saying that “we’re all singing from the same hymn book.”
