Nathan Phillips Removed Some Masks

Hats off to provocateur Nathan Phillips. His hate hoax that directed the full fury of the liberal establishment was enlightening, removing the masks from progressives and their mushily moderate RINO enablers to reveal the terrifying visage beneath. Matthew Vadum provides a summary:

Islamic terrorism apologist Reza Aslan set the tone for exhortations to violence. “Honest question[,]” he tweeted. “Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kid’s?”

CNN contributor Bakari Sellers tweeted the young man was “a deplorable” and therefore “can also be punched in the face.”

“Saturday Night Live” writer Sarah Beattie offered oral sex to would-be attackers. “I will blow whoever manages to punch that maga kid in the face.”

Failed comedian Kathy Griffin demanded the Covington kids be lynched and doxxed.

As noted earlier, Hollyweird writer/producer Michael Green also belongs on this list. So does Jim Carrey, who compared the Covington kids to baby snakes. Actor Michael Rapaport even better reflected the level of decency prevailing in Tinseltown by calling the kids “sh*t stains,” “f*ckboys,” and “c*cksuckers.” Preferring blatant lies to vulgar insults, Islamoleftist congresscritter Ilhan Omar has set herself up to be sued for libel.

Figures associated with the right provided pandering support for this onslaught. Their servile eagerness to throw the kids under the bus on behalf of political correctness provides context for whatever else they have to say. Getting back to Vadum’s piece:

National Review deputy managing editor Nicholas Frankovich wrote an op-ed titled, “The Covington Students Might as Well Have Just Spit on the Cross,” in which he absurdly likened Phillips to Jesus Christ and the high schoolers to his Roman tormentors.

Left-leaning former RNC Chairman Michael Steele instinctively sided with the wrongdoers. “His name is #NathanPhilips, an elder of the Omaha Nation and a Vietnam veteran. I stand with him. Where do you stand on bigotry?” he tweeted.

Incidentally, Phillips did not serve in Vietnam. Nor is there any reason to believe that the Covington Catholic kids are bigots.

Weekly Standard founder Bill Kristol went after the innocent kids with gusto on Twitter. …

Laid off Weekly Standard dead-ender Jim Swift metaphorically shot the schoolchildren in the back. “If I were the Bishop of the Diocese of Covington, I would humbly ask Mr. Phillips be the commencement speaker at a certain high School.”

The frequently underwhelming S.E. Cupp upbraided the kids.

Let’s not forget about the Resurgent. Then again, maybe forgetting about the Resurgent is not such a bad idea.

Due to her reach, Sarah Beattie’s input is the most appalling. Nothing could be more loathsome than offering to provide oral sex to any random person who inflicts violence on an innocent child. Yet as DC Chronicle notes,

Sarah was named one of five Comedians Who Might Help You Stay Sane for the Next 4 Years by Vogue.

The program she writes for is a central pillar of the liberal establishment. For decades, it has dictated what opinions are cool or uncool to people too young, too weak, or too foolish to figure things out for themselves. A snide remark or unfunny skit on Saturday Night Live can overpower even the most intelligent argument in terms of the number of people it will persuade.

People of the caliber of Sarah Beattie have been remaking American society in their image. If Nathan Phillips has helped bring this to public attention, kudos to him, even if he is kind of a cockroach.
