Racist Restaurant Receipt Shenanigans

A favorite hate hoax is to scribble a nasty note on a restaurant receipt and claim a customer wrote it. Black waitress Kelly Carter of Anita’s New Mexico Cafe in Ashburn, Virginia made $thousands in donations after claiming a customer wrote, “Great service, don’t tip black people” on the receipt; the note was found to have been forged on a reprint of the original receipt. Khalil Cavil claimed someone wrote “We don’t tip Terrorist” on a receipt at Saltgrass Steak House in Odessa, Texas; an investigation determined that the event had been fabricated. At the Fuji Japanese Steak House in Waco, Texas, someone scrawled a racial slur against Hispanics on a receipt; a waitress confessed to faking it. Now we read this from New Jersey:

Under the Moon Cafe in Bordentown posted a photo on social media of a nasty note some customers left last week.

According to owner Santiago Orosco, a couple didn’t like it when waitress Lorena Bossi spoke to another employee in Spanish.

Bossi told her boss that the couple wrote “Don’t tip immigrants!!!” on the back of their check.

Orosco sounded off on Fakebook against the ignorance of bigots and waxed eloquent on his inspiring personal story of a hardworking immigrant who made good, even managing to get in a subtle dig at Donald Trump (“America has always been great!!!”). The media was not slow to provide an amplifier. Unsurprisingly,

Orosco said the restaurant and Bossi, who is bilingual, has gotten a lot of support in recent days.

Business must be booming, as diners signal their virtue by beating a path to his door.

Like the Jussie Smollett affair, this is not a confirmed hoax, but has all the hallmarks. Whether the note is legit may never be known.
