This is the preserved site of extensive Confederate defensive breastworks opposing the advance of enemy forces in early 1865.

Activities include: Artillery display and periodic firing by Braddy’s Battery, authentic reenactor camp, General W.J. Hardee’s HQ’s tent and officers, and period field hospital and surgeon. Visitors are encouraged to wear period attire.

Uniformed reenactors and ladies will appear in period attire. General Hardee’s HQ’s tent will include maps and discussion about the progression of the Carolinas’ Campaign of late 1864 and early 1865. Many photo opportunities for visitors; a Camp Store will offer historic items for sale.

Site adjacent to the Person Street Bridge, use 1130 Person Street for Navi.

Historic Campbellton Landing was the original river landing site during the mid-18th century settling of the region by Scots. The merging of Campbellton and Cross Creek in 1783 formed the city of Fayetteville. Campbellton Landing was later the site of extensive Confederate breastworks erected after evacuating Fayetteville – some which still exist on the property. Gen. Hardee commanded the 10,000-man “Hardee’s Corps” which made its valiant stand at Averasboro.
