Colonials Nickname Regarded as Thought Crime

The Central Connecticut State University Colonials may have to change their name. Colonials spread Western civilization. This is now seen as a crime against political correctness, according to which a state of savagery was somehow superior.

[Student Association] Sen. Hayley Margolis … wants to move the discussion about the nickname past a “casual conversation” and educate officials and students on the negative impact that the name carries for students from countries that have seen the effects of colonialism.

The effects include having railroads and irrigation systems built for them, being introduced to modern medicine and agriculture, that sort of thing. She actually brought in a former Tanzanian ambassador to denounce the spread of civilization.

The very word “colonial” is now considered offensive. If we are going to gut and rebuild every single building in the country anyway as part of the Green New Deal, we might as well just demolish anything representing colonial architecture.

This is rich:

[Margolis] said having the Colonials as the University’s team name may discourage students from having “inclusive” school spirit because the moniker could be associated with ethnophobia – the hatred of a different race – and oppression.

There is no hatred of any race implicit in the word “colonial.” Colonists nowadays are almost exclusively from the Third World, drawn by open borders and generous welfare states to expand their sphere into Europe and North America. There is however race hate implicit in Margolis’ ideology: a depraved hatred of her own race and its culture.

Barks Margolis:

“There are students that, if we were back in Colonial times, wouldn’t have been represented or treated equally.”

Therefore, everything about the past is bad and history must be erased.

The source publication is the GW Hatchet, a student newspaper serving George Washington University. That name needs changing too. Like the word “colonial,” George Washington has been designated for erasure (see here, here, and here).
