We Are Jack

Dear Marriage Supporter — On December 5th, one of the most important legal cases of our lifetimes will be argued before the US Supreme Court — Masterpiece Cakeshop v Colorado Civil Rights Commission.

Today, we are launching a nationwide educational campaign to alert Americans to the importance of this case. Please watch our video now, and then share it with everyone you know via social media and email.

This case involves a Christian baker, Jack Phillips, who declined to devote his creative talents to celebrate a gay ‘wedding’ because doing so violates his deeply-held religious beliefs. But the implications of the case go far beyond forcing Christian bakers to violate their beliefs. It involves the rights of every American to live out their faith in their daily lives and could determine if the constitutional guarantee of the free exercise of religion still exists, or if it will be trumped by political correctness.

Jack Phillips represents us, every one of us. He’s put his faith on the line to stand for the truth of marriage as the bible teaches it from the Creator — one man and one woman. If Jack wins, we all win.

In a very real sense, we are Jack.

Our nationwide education campaign is possible because of the generosity of hundreds of donors who contributed toward our new video. While we’ve raised what was needed to finish the production, we’re still short of the funds we’re seeking to distribute the video to more people.

In addition to making a financial contribution to help us spread the video to more people, there are two other things you can do to help us in this incredibly important undertaking.

NOM is working hard to fight for the religious freedom of people of faith and to defend the constitutional right of Americans to the free exercise of religion. Our legal team filed an important brief with the Supreme Court to support Jack, and all people of faith. And we’re working very hard to alert Americans to the importance of this fight.

But we cannot lose sight of the fact that it’s Jack Phillips who is putting everything on the line. The Colorado Civil Rights Commission ruled that he was guilty of “discrimination.” They imposed a fine, ordered him to start celebrating gay ‘weddings’ or stop celebrating any wedding, and ordered him to undergo a reeducation program, including filing quarterly compliance reports.

His business is down 40% since this case began.

Jack has done what he can, and now it is up to us to support him.
