Anna Little is sworn in as a federal Immigration Judge

Anna C. Little of Highlands, was sworn in as a federal Immigration Judge on Friday, March 15, 2019, during an investiture ceremony in the Great Hall of Main Justice in Washington, DC.  Principal Deputy Chief Immigration Judge Christopher Santoro administered the Oath of Office.

Judge Little has been assigned to the San Francisco Immigration Court in San Francisco, CA. She plans to return to New Jersey on weekends.

Little is a former Monmouth County Freeholder and former Mayor of Highlands. She was councilwoman in Highlands when she emerged victorious from a crowded field to replace Amy Handlin on the Monmouth County Freeholder Board at a Title 19 convention on February 27, 2006.   She was elected to that November to complete Handlin’s term but did not seek the Party’s nomination in 2007 after feuding with Chairman Adam Puharic.   The Highlands GOP tapped her to run for Mayor in 2007 when incumbent Rick O’Neil stepped down as a candidate for reelection.

By 2010, Little was a “Tea Party Darling” and the leader of “Anna’s Army” of grassroots activists. After scoring a major upset by defeating Diane Gooch in the Republican primary for the CD 6 congressional nomination, Little gave Congressman Frank Pallone what was perhaps the most competitive race of his career.  Little won the Monmouth County portion of  the 6th Congressional by over 3500 votes, 51%-47%, but could not overcome the urban vote in Middlesex County which came out in big numbers for Pallone.

Little ran a rematch against Pallone in 2012 but Obama/Romney and SuperStorm Sandy prevented her from duplicating her relative success of 2010.

Since 2012, Little has focused on her law practice and on pro-life issue on a national level.

She was offered the job with the Justice Department in December.  Her appointment was delayed by the government shutdown.
