Catholic Journalist Could Face Prison for “Misgendering”

Under absolute tyranny, truth is not merely discouraged. It is literally illegal. They will throw you in prison for stating an indisputable scientific fact. Consider the unfolding fate of Caroline Farrow in Britain:

A Catholic journalist in the United Kingdom faces legal trouble and potential jail time for “misgendering” a 25-year-old transgender woman.

A “transgender woman” is what we are expected to call a deranged man who presents himself as a woman. We are also expected to refer to such men with feminine pronouns so as to actively endorse the lie that they really are women despite the objective biological fact that they are not.

Caroline Farrow, the journalist, said Monday that the mother of the transgender woman had reported her for the offense.

Farrow stands accused of sending tweets months ago that she does not remember in which she referred to the psychosexually addled he as a he rather than call him a she. The police announced that Farrow must undergo formal interrogation for this thought crime.

Big Brother is not her only problem. Tyranny is usually imposed partially on an unofficial basis by agents acting outside the government. Farrow reports,

“Meanwhile a group of people have terrified and harassed my family. Doxed my children, made violent and sexual threats, signed me up to porn accounts, did the same to my husband, threatened to visit here.”

This ton of bricks was dumped upon her head due to her Christian beliefs and because she does not believe that men can be transformed à la The Island of Doctor Moreau into genuine women.

Lest you get angry on her behalf, keep in mind that failing to find militant transsexuals appealing is an even more serious thought crime than referring to them with the proper pronoun. Authorities call it hate.

Orwell would smile sadly at the irony of the government’s involvement:

Under the U.K.’s Malicious Communications Act, a person may face up to two years in prison, a fine, or both if found guilty of “a message which is indecent or grossly offensive,” “a threat,” “information which is false and known or believed to be false by the sender,” or “any article or electronic communication which is, in whole or part, of an indecent or grossly offensive nature.”

She could be given prison time for telling the objective truth under a law that purports to punish those who tell lies. Political correctness decrees that the truth is a lie.

Democrats plan to impose a similar law in the erstwhile Land of the Free, namely the outrageous Equality Act, an Orwellian proposal that would officially establish transsexuals as more equal than others by allowing them to compel speech to advance their grotesque ideology.

If they can force us to pretend to believe that men are women, what other absurd and pernicious beliefs might progressives impose?
