Sen. Mike Lee Uses Humor to Debunk Green New Deal - Causes Crippling Twist in Leftist Panties +Video

Remember when the political left was funny?  Not funny in the “village idiot” sort of way they are today, but way back when, maybe a couple of decades ago, when they used humor effectively as a weapon?  Yes, it does seem like a long time ago.  But I do recall an era when laughter was mostly the realm of the left and conservatives were seen as pompous, stiff, stodgy, narrow minded and angry.  It’s amazing how the world can flip so dramatically.

Senator Mike Lee of Utah (a libertarian leaning Republican) recently gave a speech on the Senate floor in opposition to the highly divisive “Green New Deal” championed by Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a US Representative with the ideological depth of an angst ridden teenager that smuggles cliff notes of the Communist Manifesto and Rules For Radicals in her Lisa Frank trapper keeper.  Lee’s speech has attracted immediate ridicule from leftist gatekeepers for its use of humor and “props” to make a point; the point being that the Green New Deal is so absurd it is difficult to tackle in a serious manner.  Here is a shortened version of that speech:

Now, the left likes to think they are the kings and queens of “memes” as social weapons, and I specifically love the fact that the Senator has invaded their precious territory to out-meme them.  The responses to Lee’s presentation vary.  Ocasio-Cortez is clearly not amused, as she insinuated that Lee does not “take his job seriously”.  She does not seem to realize that Lee takes his job seriously; he just doesn’t take her seriously.  And, neither does anyone else after the Green New Deal failed to secure a vote in the Senate this past Tuesday.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper responded with his own awkward attempt at snarky ridicule, doing what leftists do best, which is to take something original and entertaining, steal it, and then regurgitate a painfully boring and trite facsimile.  They did it to Ghostbusters.  They did it to Star Wars.  And, they want to do it to you too.  They are insidious pod people.

And finally, Stephen Colbert, a clown pretending to be a political commentator pretending to be a clown, thought he would try to one-up Mike Lee with his own presentation.  He referred to Lee as the “Jar Jar Binks” of the Senate, which is interesting, because I’ve always thought of Stephen Colbert as the “Peter Pettigrew of late night comedy”.  Colbert latches onto Lee’s assertion that having kids and starting a family would solve more of the world’s problems than the Green New Deal ever would, taking his statement hyper-literally.  Apparently, the concept of comedy flies a bit above Colbert’s head.

I would point out that neither Stephen Colbert nor Anderson Cooper had the balls to show even a moderate portion of Mike Lee’s actual speech, probably because it was far funnier than both of them put together.  It’s the best thing I’ve seen this year, and the fact that the left has no idea what to do with it is even better.  They have become the self righteous and humorless ingrates of our age because they think the fantastical “gods” of socialism or climate change are on their side.  They don’t feel the need to appeal to the masses through reason, and now they don’t even know how to make us laugh anymore.

Hopefully, the day will never come when the social justice green deal left is treated as sober or insightful.  Sadly, I’ve seen their insanity to be sometimes infectious.  The results would be disastrous.  Like Mike Lee says, it would be far better for the world to just make babies…
