Illinois Medicaid to Cover Surgically Mutilating the Sexually Insane

Great news from Illinois. Many thought the state was on the verge of bankruptcy due to extravagant public sector pensions and to the entire state being under the thumb of the corrupt and irresponsible leftists in Chicago. But it turns out Illinois has plenty of money. Otherwise, it could not afford sick frivolities like surgically mutilating the sexually insane:

Illinois’ Medicaid program intends to start covering gender reassignment surgery as early as this summer, the state announced Friday afternoon.

Medicaid members age 21 and older who are diagnosed with gender dysphoria would be eligible for genital and breast-related surgery, under proposed rules from the Department of Healthcare and Family Services. Medicaid is a state and federally funded health insurance program that serves many poor and disabled Illinois residents.

The poor and disabled will have to wait a little longer for medical care so that social engineers can indulge at public expense in experiments that belong on the Island of Dr Moreau.

“Healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and I’m committed to ensuring our LGBTQ community and all Illinoisans have access to that right,” said Gov. J.B. Pritzker, in a news release. “Expanding Medicaid to cover gender affirming surgeries is cost effective, helps avoid long term health consequences, and most importantly is the right thing to do.

No one has a right to compel other people to provide them with goods and services, regardless of whether they are related to healthcare. Genital mutilation is intended to deny a person’s gender, not affirm it. It his hardly cost-effective to waste money that could be spent on serious medical conditions like cancer and diabetes. Sex change procedures do not avoid but rather bring about deleterious long-term health consequences. Most importantly, confiscating money from the public to finance depravity is not the right thing to do.
