Kamala Harris Escalates Campaign Against Gun Rights

The first target of the mob of Jacobins running for president as Democrats could be the Second Amendment. Eric Swalwell, running on this single issue, has proclaimed that those who resist gun confiscation will be thrown in jail. Spartacus has barked that he would like to ban guns. Kamala Harris — despite being a gun owner herself for the sensible purpose of self-defense — elbows her way to the front:

At a presidential campaign event Wednesday in New Hampshire, Harris pledged to take executive action banning the importation of AR-15-style assault weapons — a move that came just three weeks after the California Democrat rolled out her sweeping gun-control proposal.

Some of her proposals may seem reasonable to people who do not view them in the broader context of an incremental assault on a fundamental right. Others are tyrannical on their face, including an executive order “repealing a law that prevents victims from holding gun-makers and firearms dealers liable for their losses.”

Imagine if carmakers and car deals were held liable for losses resulting from auto accidents. Trial lawyers would love it — until they went to trade in their Lexus only to find that no one makes or sells cars anymore.

Harris wants to crack down on AR-15s on the absurd pretext that they are not “suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.” Being a gun owner, she should spend more time at the range, where she would see plenty of them used for a sporting purpose. AR-15s are good for hunting too. However, where they really excel is in use for home defense.

In case anyone doubts that this is about tyranny, not public safety,

Harris has said she will also work to make gun trafficking a federal crime, ban high-capacity magazines and bar those convicted of a federal hate crime from buying guns.

Making gun trafficking a federal crime should at least put Eric Holder behind bars where he belongs, but bringing in hate crimes makes explicit that she wants people disarmed for political purposes. A hate crime is literally a thought crime. Who knows what might constitute a federal hate crime in an America run by people like Kamala Harris, a black supremacist who has called for slavery reparations and who screams that “white nationalist extremism” (a point of view, and an elastic one) should be a “national security priority”?

If 76-year-old Joe Biden picks her for VP based on race and gender and then croaks, this harridan could end up president.
