Fight Old Dominion Power’s rate hike!

Old Dominion Power (ODP) has proposed to the State Corporation Commission to increase electricity bills for a typical residential customer by $4.03 per month, representing a 3.76% increase in monthly bills for average residential customers.

According to ODP, this increase is necessary due to increases in forecasted coal and natural gas expenses.

But industry data shows that building renewable energy facilities is now cheaper than continuing to run existing coal plants, and energy efficiency is the cheapest method of providing Americans with electricity. Unfortunately, ODP only powers 1% of the electricity it produces from renewable resources, meaning their charging customers more money to continue to operate more expensive power plants.
